Looks nice so far @dracony
I love PHP, I've just been stuck in C/C++ for 3 years. :D

@dracony Framework seems very solid so far, preferring this to Silex.
@dracony Would be nice to see a DI container & payload module but I can just use Aura for now :P

I don't like containers since I don't believe everything should be accessible to anything
like
I shouldn't be able to inject some ORM-specific class into the controller directly
because this makes you very dependant on the internal structure of things
but it's just my view ofc =))
any DI container would be compatible with pixie thoguh

I'm not a huge fan of them either, but I work in teams that like them. :P

There's 4 PHP teams where I work too, and they use them (though I'm not on PHP teams any more).

I'll do more testing this end, maybe do some tooling
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 14:40
im working on the CLI package now
might be nice for tooling =)

May 12 2016 14:46
Oh nice, was about to ask if there was one
Is there a wish list or something? I might get bored and write a module ;)

@dracony

the components are separate anyway, tied only by the PHPixie name
so there's nothing that PHPixie needs as a framework really, since you can use anything else in it
I just keep on mwriting components cause I like to =)

May 12 2016 14:49
I would imagine the styles are fairly consistent?
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 14:49
e.g. if somebody want to have cli tool now it's easy to use a symfony component with it
well yes
Generous Tidal
@TidalCharm_twitter
May 12 2016 14:49
That's always been my issue when I build 'patchwork' frameworks. I love Aura's components but the style is different from everything else.

The code feels disjointed.
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 14:50
there's more people working on it probably =)
Generous Tidal
@TidalCharm_twitter
May 12 2016 14:50
Well its not a framework, the components feel like each other but
If I make a 'patchwork' with Laravel or Symfony
It feels disjointed
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 14:52
yeah, Symphony components really only shine when they're all together
in the symfony2 framework i mean
so far I haven't seen a coherent patchwork of them done

My last project was Symfony3 but with Aura's DI, Payload & router
(I hate Symfony router)
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 14:55
good choice)
still Doctrine though?
Generous Tidal
@TidalCharm_twitter
May 12 2016 14:59
No ORM on that one, I built my own model layer
I'm old fashioned, I like writing SQL ;)
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 15:00
ah)
well there's a lot of upsides to doing so))
the database vendors must be really upset when people only use ORMs
since those dont support 90% of the features
like
all kinds of weird queries you can do with postgres specific syntax
like recursive tree traversal
Generous Tidal
@TidalCharm_twitter
May 12 2016 15:38
I dont really use postgres
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 15:39
well mysql has nice stuff too
e.g. replace into
thats not in orms
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 17:08
wow the new gitter design
just refreshed the page
Generous Tidal
@TidalCharm_twitter

My main issue with ORMs is that often it takes more effort to set one up than it saves to have one.
I like tools that make my life easier :P
Roman Tsiupa
@dracony
May 12 2016 20:15
I guess, well PHPixie orm works without configuration too =)

Oooh, maybe I'll check it out then.
What db drivers does it have?
Glad to see Mongo, I use Mongo a lot.
