alright, if I were to use the DF13 connector, is this what I am looking for: http://www.digikey.ca/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&itemSeq=201811909&uq=636039232303652031
as well, if I do use that, how do I go about connecting my FTDI to the pixhawk using a DF13
In this picture from the Dev site, it looks like they just used 3 basic M-F jumper wires, an attached it to the proper FTDI cable pins, and wired them into the proper DF13 connector pins

The link does not link to a specific product
You can just use a normal telemetry cable and solder it to pins

Hirose-Electric-Co-Ltd DF13-6S-1.25C is the product I believe
what do you mean by a normal telemetry cable? could you send me a link? and would I be soldering it to the FTDI?
as well, do you have any insight regarding my plan to use 3 basic M-F jumper wires, an attach it to the proper FTDI cable pins, and wired them into the proper DF13 connector pins
