    Hello, how are you? I stay at home atm, will come over at 12 am
    Julian Vogels
    @julianvogels
    yes I'm home as well, will show up at noon as well I think

    Hey guys! I'm still at home. Leaving in 15min or so. Should arrive around 1-1.30pm. I worked on the presentation to bring facts and number about menstrual taboo/ovarian cancer/irregular cycles/etc... Julian, may I let you prepare the presentation of the survey? Also, following chat with Peggy, we will include the 'glowing blood' art part to the project. Peggy, I tried to organize the luminol but we may run out of time. I did some exps with glowing party sticks yesterday night, so we can prepare an 'art catcher' for our demo. In case we can find a UV light lamp and a plexi/glass/etc transparent support with lamp underneath, would be also very cool! Catch up later! xoxo

    I just checked and there are 0 survey responses?
    Zweigeist
    @Zweigeist
    Also, some questions we may include in the survey, maybe a 'awareness' one - vs 'comfortable feeling':
    Can you name 3 factors that can affect the regularity of the menstruation?
    Do men also have menstrual cycles?
    Can you cite 3 hormones involved in the menstrual cycle?
    Do you know the biological functions of these hormones are?
    Do men secrete estradiol and progesterone?
    Do you know the average age of menopause for women?
    Can you cite 2 factors that can affect the color the menstrual blood?
    Julian, I was thinking: is the survey is working, can we start a 'performance': meaning > put the link on SHDB2016 tweeter FB etc and then ask every person coming in for the presentation to fill the survey and forward it to as many contacts as possible? Would be good to include have #periodsurvey, #menstrualtaboo & #glowingwomen
    OK getting ready to leave, see you later guys!

    I'm actually also still at home, something came up in my day to day work
    I think we have to submit until 14:30, so it's a pretty close call
    let's see how far we get
    chees see you in abut

    I'm still struggling to get the map to work actually
    Julian Vogels
    @julianvogels
    where are you preparing the persentation?
    should I set up a presentation on google ?
    we should collaborate on it, I'll only cover the technical aspects

    Hey, sorry, couldn't make it. Sort of sick.
    How did it go?
    Like the presentation, was gerat to work together!

    Hey Peggy, no worries!! Well, 3min was kind of short to explain the project aims and why they evolved during the weekend... But our voice was heard and several persons came to me/us after the talk with very interesting insights and are interested in joining the project :)

    So this menstruation tracking app (Clue) published a survey about menstrual taboo a year ago. As far as I understand, it is a survey about the women's perception, men are not included. Also, it is not an interactive survey that you can follow over time and the results are not presented individually but only show averages for each country - data missing for many! -, and do not differentiate variables such as age, population, socioeconomic status, education levels etc. I sense that it would be of interest to go on with work on an open-source and a more refined evaluation of menstrual taboo. We came up with some questions this weekend and it would maybe make sense to work with psychologists to design a scientific evaluation of the taboo/stigma levels?

    Peggy, please would you mind keeping me updated regarding this event you wanted us to present the project? Is it the Maker Faire? We can try to organize Luminol with a group of biologists based in Berlin: carolina-science.de
    Now, I started a discussion with Gal about using 'natural ways/products' to make the blood glowing. It would be interesting to do some research on interactions between cytochromes & UV light. Timing might be short for next weekend though.

    @Zweigeist
    Hey guys! Did you receive the email of SHDB16 for the Maker Faire? I would be interested in presenting Glowing Women there. Wanna join me? And if so, do you have any preference for a time slot on Sunday between 10h and 18h?
    pgys
    @pgys
    tomorrow is deadline for submissions:
    https://events.ccc.de/tag/33c3/
    I planned to be at Maker Faire at 2pm Saturday at Fab Lab
    Zweigeist
    @Zweigeist
    For CCC, I'm not sure the project is in line with the scope of the congress, plus I'm not around xmas-NY. But cool for Saturday, will try to make it then :) LG
    Julian Vogels
    @julianvogels
    I probably won't make it to Maker Faire. A friend from Canada is arriving today and will stay at my place. Maybe we'll swing by, but just spontaneously.. Sorry!
    Wow and the deadline for CCC is today? I should've come up with something nerdy^^
    pgys
    @pgys
    Biohacking, cooking and stuff is part of ccc, no reason to hesitate
    ya, sorry, I mentioned this too late. I mean feels strange to prepare in September for xmas.
    The last years I somehow slipped in with installations beginning of December, feels more "natural"
    Zweigeist
    @Zweigeist
    No pb Julian, have great time with your friends! :) Actually there was an issue with Hermes and I most probably will not receive the luminol in time. I'm super busy with other work, so maybe it makes sense to forget about the Maker Faire and refine the scientific approach of the project before presenting it, maybe even create an open FB page so that people can follow & share the main project steps more easily than here?
    Thanks for the feed-back @pgys In case you're planning to attend the conference, please feel free to use the presentation we put on the drive to submit a proposal! Unfortunately, I'm too busy with priority work to do anything today :/
    pgys
    @pgys
    ok, I go there for maker girls, I'll decide spontaneously to present the project, can't promise

    Spotted today in Montréal. Its an international movement!
    Zweigeist
    @Zweigeist
    Cool, thanks Julian, enjoy Montreal! Peggy, I believe that some points regarding the goals of the project - especially its scientific approach - need to be carefully delineated before being presented to the public again. I am very busy with priority work since a couple of weeks, coming back to you guys in November to organize a meeting with you and the people who mentioned their interest for the project following our presentation at the SHD.
