@mhsjlw I had mentioned bit-offset structures before. Would the solution to this wind up being to rewrite (or writing a wrapper for) the stream (can't remember what's specifically being used) to be a bitstream?

no, no, what I'll do instead is just set the offset past the last few bits
if you want a quick hack while you're waiting, you can just call the extra fields fake1,2,3 etc. And fill the extra bits

I'm not completely sure where you're going with this... Are you suggesting that the structure is something like 10000000 <rest>? It appears what I'm looking for is 1 <rest>
I'll need to go back and look though... As I'm thinking about it, this does seem a little off

You should add a bit type almost like a binary flag ;p

we have bitfields ?
@LFP6 yeah ok so that's a little more difficult
and unless the packet is divisible by 8 we're gonna have to pad it
so that seems useless
