Potential issue. While Qt 5.6 will support VS 2015, the beta snapshots seem not to have VS 2010 support. :(

They don't seem to mention it being dropped, maybe it's just for the beta snapshots?
It seems they'll drop 2010 support in 5.7 though

@ctismer do you know what the "deadline" for getting PS2 ready for Maya is?

@empyrical it was October, but I convinced them that this is impossible for one person.
I know that some people are testing, but I get very little feedback.

does it matter if it ends up using shiboken/libshiboken? i'd like to see if different/newer binding generators could be used on Qt

no idea. I think they are using shiboken also for other things, but I only got that as side-notes. What I would like is to tag a version as quite ok and then publish it and build wheels.
Then I would try to maybe get a follow-up contract. But to have a stable, usable version is my primary goal, first.

i see
a binding generator switch would be pretty huge and i wonder if they said anything against that

actually I'd like to continue a shiboken-replacement that John Ehresman started

I've been experimenting with using Cython to wrap Qt, would you be against that idea for PySide?

@empyrical can I take a look? Do you have a link

I don't have anything notable to upload yet, QObject is proving to be quite a difficult thing to wrap
I'll throw up "CySide" on GitHub if I manage to get anywhere with it

how is Cython a replacement for shiboken?

Cython allows for binding c or c++ to python.

It's basically a special purpose language designed for making bindings to C/C++/Fortran and also optimizing Python code
To interface with C++ or C though you need to make special definition stubs first, which can be done by hand but would be painful for something as large as Qt
So I'm looking in to seeing if existing "PXD" automation tools could be made to work with this
