Hi everyone, I'm just getting started with Eventuate. I'm curious whether there are any guidelines for how to configure Cassandra for use with Eventuate? For example, which compaction strategy is preferred for the Eventuate use case?

Hi @mikem, the default configuration for the Cassandra storage backend is defined here and can be overridden by applications. The compaction strategy is not configurable via this interface at the moment and Eventuate internally configures the default strategy. It might be useful to make it configurable, especially with the DateTieredCompactionStrategy which makes sense for time series data. If you think the configuration interface should be extended, please create a ticket.

@krasserm great, thanks! So the default configuration is a good starting point for the typical Eventuate use case?
I'll create a ticket in the future if we come across the need to customize the compaction strategy. Thanks!

@mikem the default configuration is for a single-node Cassandra installation. For running a cluster, you should increase the replication factor (and optionally extend the contact points list)
