we'll probably start work on adding the possibility to switch whitening methods and register them in the filter table
we'll maybe make a PR and you can comment there if we do silly things

you're kinda talking about somehow "benchmarking" different stuff using the same filters, or different whitening for different frequencies ? like no amp whitening for low freq to avoid sinc autocorr?

myeah.. we (or @RensHofman to be more correct ;-) ) want to compare results with some less brutal whitening routines

the results I have with a clean fft_of_the_window/psd_of_the_day_trace is quite good actually
although for the undervolc test case, for example, it doesn't change much (thanks to averaging) the final dvv result
and for the ccf itself, it doesn't significantly increase the SNR (at least in the few tests I did on three different datasets, with freqs between 100 s and 4Hz

actually I would really like to tag 1.5 now so all this would be part of the next version, including a rewrite of the CC (when no rotation is needed, or can be done later) and a whitening that takes into account the relative power of the horizontal components (needed if rotation is done after CC)
"now" : soon
I planned to wait for obspy 1.1 but it's actually not really needed as I've included linear_regression temporarily in msnoise too

sure, go ahead with 1.5, this will all take at least some weeks for sure
and cheers :beers: !
