    if someone from RC2 has any interest I have a need to have my bot finished for a demonstration at work. i do not have time to finish this myself. it's very similar to sumobot and mostly needs aduino code/drivers. (if so thank you !! ... lemme know availability and we'll figure out specs/comp ... and i'd mail it to you with return postage)

    @BigSkin hey, brian@openrov.com, cheers!

    @BrianAdams thanks for getting in touch with me I will email you later when I get back to my home.

    @ajfisher Just arrived home from the RobotsConf trip (SimpleBot survived with only minor wear-and-tear) ... are you up for some robot hacking tomorrow ?
    figital
    @figital
    can anyone recommend something like a Bluetooth dongle but with more range ... like with an antenna or somesuch ... and easy linux drivers?
    Willa Riggins
    @willasaywhat
    @figital How much range? I'm partial to Xbees. They have a 900mhz model that will theoretically do 6 mile range.
    The less expensive models do ~400ft.
    figital
    @figital
    300 ft would be more than fine. bte just seems easy to work with and have gotten familiar with it (after robotsconf :))
    Willa Riggins
    @willasaywhat
    Yep, check out the Xbees then. I have two of the series 2 radios set up as a wireless serial connection. Works perfectly.

    @pzula
    6 mile range on Bluetooth! Wow! I'll have to look into that for my farm automation :)
    Willa Riggins
    @willasaywhat
    It uses a mesh networking thingy. Not quite Bluetooth; runs in the 2.4ghz or 900mhz band.

    @pzula
    Interesting. Have any links?
    figital
    @figital
    will pull that xBee out of the shoebox ... just need it to trigger a relay or two.
    @pzula get a few ibeacons and try the evothings ide .... EZ :)

    Any news on this years conf yet???
    Pawel Szymczykowski
    @makenai
    Usually they start planning after JSConf US, so probably start hearing things in June

    Want.

    @ajfisher
    @voodootikigod did the videos ever make it up anywhere?
    Chris Williams
    @voodootikigod
    @ajfisher they are sitting right nxt to me
    @ajfisher I just need time to post
    possibly this weekend
    ajfisher
    @ajfisher
    Cool - was more just seeing if I'd missed the announcement was all.

    Did we ever get photos posted from RobotsConf? I’d love to see some :D
    Missing my Robots friends!

    Miss you RC peeps!

    any recommendations for an arduino'ish PSI sensor? something that'll even do 10 PSI would be fine for now. (balloons / kickballs ... that type of thing to start)
    Rick Waldron
    @rwaldron
    @figital not that I’ve ever encountered
    ajfisher
    @ajfisher
    What about just a barometric sensor? @figital eg https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11824 - you'd need to integrate it into the air feed line...
    figital
    @figital
    something like this i guess ... http://kealab.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=289 (worth a shot for $0.15 for 100 lol) ... just looking to read pressure at first .... if i get around to pneumatics i haven't found a zero-noise 12V (or less) air pump yet.
    thanks @ajfisher might have to try that also ... not what i'm looking for right now ... but certainly in the same ballpark (of random things to play with :smile: )
    ajfisher
    @ajfisher
    Oh that would do the job
    figital
    @figital
    wound up getting one from mouser ($12). 10V power. measures up to 7 PSI. as a frame of refernce a regulation kickball is 1.5 PSI so i'm sure there's plenty of hijinx in this range. http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=MPX2050GP
    figital
    @figital
    i did receive that sensor but it was going to require amplification/transistor action i don't have time to learn ... hopefully this will do the trick : http://tinyurl.com/hkfaqjz (and the entire design is well documented)
    Jérôme Loï
    @gorhgorh
    ning I would love to make it happen! So is there any objection on starting to plan one?
    Bryan Hughes
    @nebrius
    OMG those photos…lots of fuzzy feelings :)

    @figital
    could anyone recommend something similar to circuits.io (breadboard simulator) but perhaps in a fatter client .... like the OpenSCAD IDE? (never did get the pressure sensors to work :p)
    Pawel Szymczykowski
    @makenai
    Maybe 123 Circuits from autodesk or Fritzing? Depending on what your needs are
    Well, I thought 123d circuits was offline, but I guess maybe not
    figital
    @figital
    123d is circuits.io (I think) ... yes like that and/or fritzing (but a desktop client) ... i don't think fritzing does simulations though.
