@Cyr-Az
and maybe tell your boss about this prior to telling this to your customer
because ultimately he is responsible if he sells something that isn't doable
if he doesn't care... then you've done your job anyway, but at least you have proof you gave the proper advice when it backfires :p

Hi Everyone, May i know how to execute a Powershell command on a remote windows server? (Authoring--->Management Pack Objects--->Tasks---->New Task--->Agent Task--->Run a Script)?
Sameer Mhaisekar
@Sameer-Mhaisekar
Yeah that kinda works actually
Let me actually discuss that with my colleagues here
Thanks a lot
Sameer Mhaisekar
@Sameer-Mhaisekar
@RamananRapid_twitter that'll probably run a vbs. You can do it by calling Powershell and your script as parameters in the agent task
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
@Sameer-Mhaisekar Do you have any guide for this?
Cyr-Az
@Cyr-Az
@RamananRapid_twitter two options : actual authoring with a powershell probe write action, or https://github.com/squaredup/Community.PowerShellMonitoring.MP if you want to do it from scom console
Ruben Zimmermann
@Ruben8Z_twitter
@Sameer-Mhaisekar I absolutely support what @Cyr-Az recommended you in terms of options, transparency and so far. Surely, checking with your manager in advance. I believe that in the eye of a customer you would be much more professional by also including alternatives.
Most customers are not dump, they appreciate that their eyes get opened ;-)
@Sameer-Mhaisekar If the Management Pack is in XML you can also point this out. That if there are doubts about malicious code or whatever, sources can be seen and understood by every IT guy who has bit of idea for scripting in Microsoft environments

@Ruben8Z_twitter thanks for the great advices guys! Appreciate it :)

Hi All, i wanted to change the SCOM agent primary management server name. I have used the below command to perform the same. The command got executed. But i could see no changes to the respective agent. Am i doing anything wrong? Set-SCOMParentManagementServer -Agent (Get-SCOMAgent -Name "$Agentname") -PrimaryServer (Get-SCOMManagementServer -Name "$Primarymgmtserver")
Sameer Mhaisekar
@Sameer-Mhaisekar
Hey
I assume you're assign
Assigning the values to your variables?
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
@Sameer-Mhaisekar Nope, i have used the server names in the variable filed. But i don't see any changes in the agent config file.

Hi all, some users are not able to view the list of tasks under monitoring--->Alerts. What would be the issue?
Sameer Mhaisekar
@Sameer-Mhaisekar
Are you sure you're looking under the right view (class)?
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
yes
Cyr-Az
@Cyr-Az
what role do they have? is it scoped to only some views/tasks?
also I believe I've seen this when using a console that didn't get updated to latest UR
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
Operator role. It is scoped only to alerts. DO you know the link to download the latest UR?
Cyr-Az
@Cyr-Az
which version are you running ? 2012? 2016?
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
2016
for the user role, what did you chose on the Task scoping tab?
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
All Task.

Update Rollup 7 for Microsoft System Center 2016 - Operations Manager Console (KB4492182) is having multiple packages. Should i install everything?
Cyr-Az
@Cyr-Az
there actually is only one per architecture (32/64bit) and language
so you simply should pick the right one
ramanan
@RamananRapid_twitter
ok Thanks

Anyone know of any site or document for best practices for handling alerts in SCOM.

What do you think of using SCOM for a NOC, at the moment I have some clients but the management of alerts is complicated.

Mhaisekar Sameer
@MhaisekarS_twitter
Cookdown has an excellent tool you can use to handle your overrides and tune your SCOM that is incredibly easy and intuitive. It's called Easy tune.
Cookdown.com
Regarding NOC, Squared Up has amazing dashboards that you can build quickly and share with your teams or to hang on your big screens!

Anyone know how to remove authentication in the SCOM WEB console? I have created an HTML dashboard that I created through the SCOM API Rest and every time I lock the pc screen it asks me again for authentication

Thanks for the reply @StoyanChalakov_twitter @MhaisekarS_twitter . Has anyone used Azure Automation Account to integrate it with SCOM instead of Orchestrator?
Uretzky Zvi
@UretzkyZvi
@isadanar_twitter I don't think you will get an objective answer in a SCOM group about management alerts using SCOM ;) . Although, I believe it is possible. To achieve it, you will need to develop a tool that will be easy and transparent for the user to manage the alerts. If you don't want to spend time on development then I suggest using Savision Live Maps v10.4 and if you need a single glass of pane to manage all alerts from different monitoring tools and ITSM tools then I suggest using Savision iQ. https://www.savision.com/try-free/
Ruben Zimmermann
@Ruben8Z_twitter

@isadanar_twitter Welcome :-)

From my site I have the same suggestion. Check out Savision and SquaredUp both have a similar focus ( fantastic and easy to create Dashboards ) mainly for SCOM, but both have their strengths.

@isadanar_twitter I thought about my own dashboards before trying both solutions, but after evaluating both I dropped that idea immediately.
The time that you can safe with taking such products compared to self made is immense.
