Cookdown has an excellent tool you can use to handle your overrides and tune your SCOM that is incredibly easy and intuitive. It's called Easy tune.

Regarding NOC, Squared Up has amazing dashboards that you can build quickly and share with your teams or to hang on your big screens!

Anyone know how to remove authentication in the SCOM WEB console? I have created an HTML dashboard that I created through the SCOM API Rest and every time I lock the pc screen it asks me again for authentication

Thanks for the reply @StoyanChalakov_twitter @MhaisekarS_twitter . Has anyone used Azure Automation Account to integrate it with SCOM instead of Orchestrator?
Uretzky Zvi
@UretzkyZvi
@isadanar_twitter I don't think you will get an objective answer in a SCOM group about management alerts using SCOM ;) . Although, I believe it is possible. To achieve it, you will need to develop a tool that will be easy and transparent for the user to manage the alerts. If you don't want to spend time on development then I suggest using Savision Live Maps v10.4 and if you need a single glass of pane to manage all alerts from different monitoring tools and ITSM tools then I suggest using Savision iQ. https://www.savision.com/try-free/

@isadanar_twitter Welcome :-)

From my site I have the same suggestion. Check out Savision and SquaredUp both have a similar focus ( fantastic and easy to create Dashboards ) mainly for SCOM, but both have their strengths.

@isadanar_twitter I thought about my own dashboards before trying both solutions, but after evaluating both I dropped that idea immediately.
The time that you can safe with taking such products compared to self made is immense.

I would like to create SCOM DR setup at Azure and Primary site at on-premises, is it a possible scenario ?
Stoyan Chalakov
@StoyanChalakov_twitter
@Aman_Bannsal_twitter Can you please share more details.-.You want to have management servers on pre, but also in Azure?
Or you mean having different management groups, one prem and one in Azure
Please read this, it will het you sarted and you will learn also what the options for DR are
Sameer Mhaisekar
@Sameer-Mhaisekar
Hey Aman, agree with Stoyan. Assuming you plan to have additional management servers in Azure and rest on prem, this is surely possible. Keep in mind though, the network latency among the management server has to be very low

Need advise..

1.Locate the file containing the servers to set in maintenance mode --> User can manually browse to locate the file
2.Comment/Reason for maintenance --> User will paste the ticket number (ex: chg123456)
3.Maintenance Time --> User will indicate how long should be in minutes (1hr = 60mins.)
Show in GUI
Hours to Minutes

Hours Minutes
1 Hour 60 Minutes
2 Hours 120 Minutes
3 Hours 180 Minutes
4 Hours 240 Minutes
5 Hours 300 Minutes
6 Hours 360 Minutes
7 Hours 420 Minutes
8 Hours 480 Minutes
9 Hours 540 Minutes
10 Hours 600 Minutes

  1. Validation, If server has SCOM/ No SCOM (catch and write-error)
  2. include to check and set in maintenance mode TCP port (synthetic transaction)
  3. Write the progress -activity
  4. Save the file as csv this include server with scom and no scom.

Hi @crowevar ,

two ideas.

  1. Use some Powershell magic: https://adatum.no/operationsmanager/scom-2016-schedule-maintenance-script
  2. Safe some time and use this tool: https://www.scom2k7.com/scom-maintenance-mode-scheduler-v2/

@StoyanChalakov_twitter
Hey @crowevar , fully agree with @Ruben8Z_twitter
crowevar
@crowevar
Thanks @Ruben8Z_twitter - great suggestion, I was able to accomplish until validation, But I'm still struggling how to include synthetic transcation (TCP port) to set in maintenance mode as well. we're using scom2012

crowevar
@crowevar
I want to include this part..
Stoyan Chalakov
@StoyanChalakov_twitter
Try getting them like that:
$TCPPortWatchers = Get-SCOMClassInstance -Name "Microsoft.SystemCenter.SyntheticTransactions.TCPPortCheckPerspective" | where {$_.DisplayName -eq "SomeDisplayName"}
This will get you all the TCPPortWatcherNodes with a DispalyName of "SomeDisplayName"
You can filter, based on your needs
and then just put the object into MM

As SCOM as a Service is in plan (Aakash Basavaraj Program Manager for the SCOM Team at Microsoft), it's interesting to here the community opinion, regarding which monitor tool to choose in order of monitoring our multi cloud vendor environment (AWS,Azure,GCP).

A Distributed Cloud Monitoring using the Cloud Native Stack Tools (CloudWatch, Auzre Monitor, StackDriver, etc..) OR A Centralized Cloud Monitoring using Traditional Tools (DataDog, NewRelic, AppDynamics, etc..)?

It's very hard to descied which approche to choose. as pricing is huge factor. So Cloud Native Tools Should be much cheapre, as you pay only for what you want. plus much faster and stable, and more versatile with the monitoring capatbilities. but from the other hand Cloud Traditional Tools has much less hassle to deal with, and much less curving path to learn. plus, a centrlized montring tool for our multi Cloud setup.

Hello, is there a way to execute a remote command on a SCX Linux agent using the 'winrm' method to run ExecuteShellCommand ', but without the need for an xml configuration file where the command is written?
Stoyan Chalakov

Hello, could anyone point me to SCOM management pack to monitor ports listening in Linux?
Stoyan Chalakov
@StoyanChalakov_twitter
Hi, you can use the Build In Template for that. It is very easy to setup. Just navigate to Authoring, Management Pack Templates and start the "Add monitoring wizard"
Or were you looking exclusively for a MP?
Teshome
@teshomem_gitlab
Thanks, i tried the tcp port templat. My problem with that was i have dozens different port to monitor per host for 10 servers. I had to create one for each using that template which is a lot of manual task. Any idea to make it simpler?
Stoyan Chalakov
@StoyanChalakov_twitter
Hey @teshomem_gitlab you can do this in order to automate the port monitoring:

Hi @StoyanChalakov_twitter ,

@cooka3-v reached out on LinkedIn. I sent the original blog post as a word document. Perhaps something was shortened by the content-writers in SquaredUp.

Let's see how this goes :-)
