@thattommyhall
I probs need to redo the images for the *-split fns

@thattommyhall
in the slides
Stuart Terrett
@shterrett
@thattommyhall top-left is probably more standard for graphics, etc. But in science and algebra, it's bottom left (or center). May well be just me that's confused by it.
thattommyhall
@thattommyhall
@shterrett you are right about maff being bottom left deffo

Thanks, all, for the supportive and informative responses to my entry of 1/10/25, 9:29 PM (PST) ("Okay, I'm trying to do the step...."). I will dig into the SICP Ch. 1 and 2 material. Maybe I'm a better candidate for the finished SICPDistilled?
thattommyhall
@thattommyhall
@gw666 sorry Greg, please dont give up. I'd say being keen enough to start straight away is enough qualification. I'll try get at least the screencast for this bit up in the next few days

Any hints on how to calculate the values needed for shearing using apply-matrix?
Stuart Terrett
@shterrett

It's in the form

x1 x2 xo
y1 y2 yo

Where (xo, yo) is the new origin and (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) are the vectors e1 and e2 normalized to unit vectors (ie divided by their magnitude).

You can further normalize (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) against the width and height of the image, or you can apply q/scale after applying the transformation matrix.

I recommend a liberal use of q/print-matrix so you can see what's going on.

omg, so much has been written already! /me scrolls back... and back.... and back...

@bru try the problems first ;-) SPOILER ALERT

I should be fixing them this weekend, but it's caused some peeps some confusion

The above is my square-limit. It follows the SICP text, with the "original" corner-split in the upper-right corner!
Stuart Terrett
@shterrett
@gw666 very nice!
thattommyhall
@thattommyhall
@gw666 nice indeed!

@thattommyhall
@suvash My friend uses it actually, misses some images I think
Suvash Thapaliya

Anyone want to set github auth on www.sicpdistilled.com for me?
I made something that can render markdown for the ASCIIcasts, nothing too exciting there yet
Sagun Khatri
@sakh1979
I see TEST on the homepage, and then Coming Soon message.
thattommyhall
@thattommyhall
That's right, just testing the auth stuff
You saw login via github ?
Sagun Khatri
@sakh1979
No, I saw a link to github auth, but never got any login form, it just logged me in.
thattommyhall
@thattommyhall
I should ask you for permission I think, unless it half-worked when you tried earlier (I was using name, not nickname - for me they were the same)
anyhoo, I think that's it fixed
thanks for checking for me
Sagun Khatri
@sakh1979
not a problem
Stuart Terrett
@shterrett
I clicked login with github, and it passed me straight through.
Martin Clausen
@maacl
www.sicpdistilled.com worked for me, reroutes to github to ask for permission and then logs in

@gw666
For anyone struggling with completing 'escher', I've restructured the code and added docstrings and comments. These changes give you the background you need so that you can spend your time implementing the core functionality and not asking questions like "Where's the origin in the Quil drawing window?" and "What is function X supposed to do?" Since my forked repository is private (and I can't make it public), I've copied core.clj to here: https://gist.github.com/gw666/82c8e1ca178169a3f990 . Please let me know if you find the changes I've made helpful. Thanks!
