I got it! Backbone.js is interacting with the REST framework!
My problem was the leading '/' in the url and another issue involving being stuck in the debugger.
This is great! I should be able to pull the data in using all native Backbone.js calls. That will make readability much better and maximize adoption.

@bhaugen do you know what the default login/pass is? I want to test POST calls, but I haven't created any users yet.

Yay! (I'm back for a minute, got Lynn back home, will crash soon, but that's great news!)
there is no default login/pass. What database are you using?
Regardless, you can create a super user by being the the same directory where you do runserver and doing
./manage.py createsuperuser

@mfrangos I'm starting to really dig down into the AdminLTE template. The documentation is really good! I'm starting to play around with the starter page at work for a separate project.

Very cool! I probably won’t get around to playing around with the UX until next week though. I have a lot I need to catch up on. Now that we have decided on a template/s, we are one step closer. I need to cross reference the open source template features with the other one. I like the idea of having something skinnable and where one could change the theme based on their organisation’s colours/brand. I know the paid one allows one to do this fairly easily.

The open source AdminLTE template has skins too. If you click on the gear-menu in the upper right-hand corner, you can scroll down to select different skins.

The documentation page also has an easy way to switch between different examples of color pallet skins.

I might have not included enough fields to do a valid post. Let me know if you run into any problems. Will be easy to fix.
