    (But a possible copy-pasta opportunity.)
    Chris Troutner
    @christroutner
    Wow, that's cool!
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    Some people used to use it. Haven't heard of much use recently.
    People often think they want something but don't really really want it.
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    However, it does work.

    @christroutner I have a question about the mind mapping software. I can't remember if you created a space for the NRP or if I'm imagining it (highly possible). I wanted to start one off but wanted to make sure there wasn't another link to it.
    Chris Troutner
    @christroutner
    I haven't created anything.
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    OK great. I will do that then.
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    I just downloaded Freemind but realised that we need a web-based version of mapping software that anyone can access. Asking people to install software could be a barrier for collaboration. I also requested an invite to metamaps.cc -which is, I believe web-based. However, I wonder if each user has to ask for an invite or if I can set up the map and invite everyone to view, edit and collaborate. I really want to include as many people within the network as possible to have their say so that we could start creating a road map.

    @fosterlynn
    I suspect that most web based apps will want people to create an account. Might be the trade-off.
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    yeah, i am formulating an email right now so that we could all decide which one.
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    Let's see if metamaps comes back or if creating an account is a pain in the .....
    cool
    bob and i both have accounts in metamaps; i'll see if i can invite people
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    @mfrangos i'm in metamaps making a new map to see if I can invite you.... do we want the map to be public or private or commons (whatever that is)?
    actually never mind...
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    Ideally public
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    well i don't see a way to invite people myself :(
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    i sent them an email, copied you @mfrangos
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    thanks @fosterlynn
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    @mfrangos see email, i can help with metamaps issue
    @mfrangos i see your response, glad you got it working
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    Me too! I hadn't used that short cut for years as most software has an earlier right click key combination for Macs
    Alternative, not earlier
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    ah those non-mac people.... we'll have to test our stuff on all hardware in addition to browsers.....
    (not that we did that with NRP.... ) :)
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    Actually, I haven't run into those kind of issues with the NRP. Metamaps is a bit buggy but they are in beta.
    Lynn Foster
    @fosterlynn
    well that's good.... we don't have much in the way of odd mouse actions, pretty vanilla
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    @christroutner @fosterlynn @bhaugen how hard would it be to implement a spell check into the new NRP? I am hoping this can solve the problem of words being spelled incorrectly
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    I'll leave this to Chris, because I think it's a client-side issue.
    We've done some auto-complete stuff that does use server-side data and could do whatever Chris wants if it's that kind of situation (selecting from valid values that already exist in the system).
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    @christroutner - side question: are you interested in doing the highly graphical javascript stuff?
    like with d3.js etc?
    Or if somebody else comes along that likes that stuff, would you rather leave it to them?
    (I have done some of it badly, so the somebody else will not be me.)
    This has to do with the Bergnek project where they are trying to get some help from HP, which might come in the form of programmers.
    If they do, they would do their own fork so as not to get in your way.
    But we might suggest things they could do.
    One would be a phone app, which has to be tailored to African use cases and patterns.
    Because Keith of Bergnek says everybody has an Android phone, but maybe one PC in the whole town.
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    What kind of phone app? Do they plan to include all the NRP functionalities in the app?
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    I seriously doubt it. Lynn is writing something up about it.
    My vote is for a conversational app: notifications from NRP, responses from workers, logging work, etc. etc.
    Simple simple stuff.
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    Simple is good
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    Plus, we have no idea if this will happen.
    Warren of the Bergnek project seems pretty sure it will.
    So if it does, we want to direct them toward stuff we want them to do.
    Maria Frangos
    @mfrangos
    Good idea
    Bob Haugen
    @bhaugen
    I am also guessing that people will not have the latest and greatest Android.
