Anyone have a go at using the hardware timer?

Hi guys, does anyone have an idea about a strange problem that I am experiencing lately. One of my ESPs - Olimex ESP is constantly showing an error similar to the one below

`Fatal exception (0):
epc1=0x4020997c, epc2=0x00000000, epc3=0x00000000, excvaddr=0x00000000, depc=0x00000000

4020997c: fffe61 l32r a6, 40209974 <user_rf_pre_init+0x45c>`
no matter which Sming program was flashed on it. I am using the esp-open-sdk with SDK 1.4.0. Any suggestions from your side how to work around this issue?

I've had that before @slaff
I threw that ESP in the bin

Oh... sad. Any idea what I have done wrong to make this happen?

Is it the same thing over and over?

The error is pointing always to user_rf_pre function. With different applications the address is different but overall I would say that the error is the same.
@dmarkey Did you also have Olimex's ESP or it was another one?

it was flooding Fatal exception (0)
but i never tried to dig in
I have loads of spares

@dmarkey try full flash erase, and re-flash again. And it can be power supply issue.
If it pointing rf_pre probably power issue.
@dmarkey sorry I wroted wrong person :) @slaff can you try it as I said?

@raburton i need to 2 things for completely porting nextion into the sming
1- attach event on nextion serial functions
2- softserial or uart1 with uart0
Richard Antony Burton
@raburton
Oct 27 2015 19:54
yes, would need a second serial to drive it

actually its working 1 serial but debug functions and boot junks ...

the basic_rboot sample waits on serial input and processes commands, have you had a look at that for issue 1?
as for issues 2 i have modified the hardware serial code to work with uart1 on my rgb controller

no i hadnt look
i used switch uart1 after boot. are you using same thing?

not got the debug redirected to it yet, but you wouldn;t want that anyway, you'd just want to be able to send your own stuff to it
no, that didn't seem to do anything useful!
had to modify the driver code
you could probably easily modify the code to have a Serial1 (as well as the standard Serial) object you could send output to

i wonder one thing. can we use both uart0 and uart1? have you any idea? i tried to switch uart1 and its working

yeah can use both, but there while there appears to be two output there only seems to be one input!

soo seems we need softserial for full second serial
btw what is last status for hwpwm?

try full flash erase, and re-flash again.

@alonewolfx2 How can I do this? Create a file full with zeros and 2MB in size and flash it from position 0x0000 or there is an easier way?

And it can be power supply issue.

@alonewolfx2 I have two power adapters that used to work with the ESP. Will check both of them. Thanks for the hint!
