@zhivko :
I see in the ota.log that one of the the downloads is finishing with a timeout on TCP layer -> causing delay.
Please keep the rom0.bin and spiffy_rom, maybe we need it for further testing.
Probably/maybe the issue is not in OTA but httpclient implementation. Will check httpclient/ota code.

@hreintke: should I create issue and attach all 3 files to issue?
hreintke
@hreintke
Nov 12 2015 09:37
@zhivko : Yes, that would be the best.
Then we keep communication about this together.
PS : Is the issue occurring each time or only regularly ?

Only sometimes, lets say in 1 of 3 tries - but I cannot reproduce
I couldn't find what is causing it

I tried to disable timers and disable websockets

server.enableWebSockets(false);
        procTimer.stop();
        OtaUpdate();

but didn't help...

I was thinking what the hell is esp doing instead receiving file.. but couldnt find what...

There was no debug message after

onReadyToSendData: 1

in serial

@hreintke: it still happens

Can be it is "network related" tcp flow stops, esp "waits for next package" which doesn't arrive, tcp closes on timeout.

hardly - my esp is near wifi - distance is 30cm.
I was thinking also is it maybe webserver related.

But then ota should report error, I think not complete file is transferred. But need to check.

I can try with another web server - I use mini-httpd now. I'm on linux
It also happens
That fw is not transfered (timeout like you said), but ota is flashing with this half rom.bin and than esp couldn't reboot normaly anymore.
My sources were from yesterdays github Sming master.
Maybe I can add additional debug info to rBoot ?
and try to recreate

webserver was also a thought of me, but if you open the issue I will check on my config with your files and compare log.
I have webserver on NAS = Linux using apache
Let me check first, will do in a couple of hours. Then we can see where/what debug we need to add.

I cannot add .bin files to Issue.
I get: Unfortunately, we don’t support that file type. Try again with a PNG, GIF, JPG, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, TXT, or PDF. On github

they are produced by Makefile-rboot.mk I think
hreintke
@hreintke
Nov 12 2015 09:59
yes, rboot.bin is then the "rboot core"
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 12 2015 09:59
Yes it is part of: Makefile-rboot.mk
....
RBOOT_BIN := $(FW_BASE)/rboot.bin
.....

@alonewolfx2 Not yet . Not sure I know how to. It works also for me in the Arduino IDE but I want to integrate it in another project and I don't like the Arduino IDE for larger projects. I also would like to use it with a UART instead of spi and ssl client.
