Very interesting, I'll check my flags. I always thought I'm building 32 bit one )
I'll double check that. Of course it should be 32 bit

@robotiko I still think my build is w32
Im checking if my w64 can run this exe file :-D
check this out
I think this should work

@kireevco now it works under win32
thanks!
nex stone.. is the gdbstub used in example doesnt compile.. :D
still cannot test

I'm rebuilding the toolchain for win32
I found the issue.
what about gdbstub from espressif?
is that the one that waas merged to sming?/

@piperpilot Why are you bringing PIC into game - it brings complexity to the project - another layer that could go wrong - couldn't you handle everything within esp32? - I know when it starts selling...
robotiko
@robotiko
Dec 14 2015 14:52
@zhivko PIC is serious stuff.. with real support nicely supported and tested tools.. tested performance and stability
and lets you protect the firmware of the product agains reverse engineering
all that is simply science fiction in ESP so far
base a product in ESP32 rigth now.. is its still in beta!
no release date
no price

@zhivko my project was PIC based before looking at the ESP-8266. I have a LOT of PIC knowledge...so thats where we started. My PIC handles ADC, LCD, SERVO, 6 or so button inputs, etc. While the ESP32 can probably do all of that..it isn't out...its all about getting something to market, you have to use the tools available at the time. I switched over to the ESP from another wifi module that I had originally planned on using because the ESP makes the wifi portion so much easier. Some day, maybe the product can be redefined to remove the PIC...but not any time soon. Code protect is another big one...need to protect the proprietary code....
I am seeing something weird with GPIO... I have a GPIO defined as: #define MCLR_PIN 5 which should relate to GPIO5 right? Well it seems to be working against GPIO4 on the ESP-12...anyone have an idea what might be going on?

@piperpilot there are soem boards with gpio4 gpio5 swapped
is a known issue
Curtis Pope
@piperpilot
Dec 14 2015 15:07
ahhh...OK...lemme try calling it GPIO4 then...I tried GPIO6 thinking it might be off by a number...but that caused a nasty reset
robotiko
@robotiko
Dec 14 2015 15:08
if you address and undefined gpio.. got anice reset

I don't know yet. I personally think it's bloating the sdk. It should be online.

@robotiko I'm rebuilding 32bit sdk version with gdb built in, should be ready soon.
@robotiko any news about gdbstub?

yeah, I think one with the female ports
pins
arduino shields are expensive, from what I've seen

interesting
not sure how it works, it's got some heavy connectors on it, but no obvious driver for the motors

@kireevco @raburton the esp12e motor shield is nice.. but mainly designed to drive small dc motors
good design and board
there is a smart car based on it
@alon24 has a project with that board that is being ported to Sming
L293D .. not very hight power.. but can be piggy back to increase the power

sdks and libs etc are all the same.. it just changes the build system, right? so that from stability perspective is the same.. but without external dependencies?

Hello, need a quick suggestion, I'm interfacing a epaper display, can you please suggest which spi library should I use? Soft spi or the hardware spi?
Dmitry Kireev
@kireevco
Dec 14 2015 21:58
@robotiko build system was made open, related to UDK. And sdk is cross-platform
the idea is to replace CHERTS and esp-open-sdk
(or merge with esp-open-sdk)
and build toolchains easily, and provide open access to binaries and build procedure
32bit + gdb
  • esptool2
and other stuff

@kireevco : Are you planning an esptool.exe in the windows package ?
Dmitry Kireev

later yes
I need py2exe working properly
don't have time yet.
should be very simple as pip install py2exe; py2exe espyool.py esptool.exe
