@Bravo13 @patrickjahns if you have basic http things you cant use ota in 512kb flash because of big sdk and framework. you need min 1MB flash for ota. actually this isnt about sming. espressif say you need 1MB min flash size for ota later 1.3 sdk

long time ago when I test variouse 433Mhz modules this (STX8XX) was best..

this looks like a shortened pole (lambda/4-pole shortened by increasing the inductance) this results in a very deformed beam pattern. if you vary the location/angle a little bit you may get much beter results
these short antennas are a quite good compromise to the size of a full length 70cm antenna for short distances but sometimes you experience the drawbacks on longer distances ;)

it's a nice module - I wonder what they use for ac->dc conversion. Been looking for cheap modules but haven`t found anything reliable
Hmm I wonder why people open issues when they only want to ask but not interact ? i.e. #675

@patrickjahns I recently receive HI-LINK HLK-01PM nice modules, cheap, and looks reliable.. but little bit big.. I wish such module, but smaller.. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-5pcs-lot-HLK-PM01-AC-DC-220V-to-5V-mini-power-supply-module-intelligent/32480274119.html

it become 30 C hot while typical operation of esp+some mdules... so it must be concidered for temperature sensor prototyping...
otherwise - looks nice, and it is closed in package which is advantage :)
just found that test for it - seems really good

will definitely keep an eye out for this... I had this idea for creating something similar to the nodemcu devkit boards with various "shields" for IOT things. I.e. a shield for sensors, a shield for RF messages, a shield for controlling LEDs via PWM etc

Alexander V. Ribchansky

@kireevco SmingRTOS is "ready" in some manner.. needs polishing and bit other way of programming, but it mostly works and we have "MR. RTOS" aka @hreintke :) who is very responsive for RTOS :)
@kireevco any news about esp-alt-sdk and linking under linux/freebsd??

@avr39-ripe opened my build server now, got some time.
I'll test more, but it was working, and I've heard it works fine for some folks
I will build full package again, and I'd appreciate testing there.

@kireevco :
Good to see to back.
I'd like to create a new sming release for both NONOS and RTOS.
Can you prepare a download with :

  • Toolchain & Espressif NONOS 1.5.2
  • Toolchain & Espressif RTOS 1.4.0
  • Toolchain only

Thx.

@patrickjahns :
Where in the framework do you see this "error"
Patrick Jahns
@patrickjahns
Apr 03 2016 18:30 UTC
I see this in every Sourcefile using String
@hreintke
And I am not sure why - includes are properly set - wonder what I am missing
Also any function call that has String as argument shows ? instead: example print(String msg) will show as print(? *) in eclipse
brb gotta catch the train

I checked if there is any update to the mingw versions I am having - but no - checking if I can change mingw to the one you are using - but this shouldn`t be an issue right?
hreintke
@hreintke
Apr 03 2016 21:30 UTC
@patrickjahns
No shouldn't be an issue. Just looking for differences.
I think eclipse uses these paths also for searching.
Not 100% sure but might search also the PATH.
If there is anything defining the String it might cause the issue.
Something like Arduino or ArduinoJson.
The mingw itself is not used by Sming. Suppose we should in fact configure a custom toolchain to be fully right.
Did experiment with that but that is not the easiest part of eclipse configuring.
BTW I am using Eclipse Mars.

is it easy to upgrade/switch?
I have compared the implementation in WString.h and the candidates eclipse suggest and it is pointing out ... totally weird
hreintke
@hreintke
Apr 03 2016 21:40 UTC
Which upgrade/switch are you referring to ?
Patrick Jahns
@patrickjahns

eclipse
hreintke
@hreintke
Apr 03 2016 21:45 UTC
I have to be careful with statements on "easiness" as I am not the most experienced in that and only using it for Sming.
But.. I did not have any trouble upgrading eclipse.
And, as eclipse is "just a directory install" it is easy to try.
Patrick Jahns
@patrickjahns
Apr 03 2016 21:52 UTC
also tried eclipse mars - same issues with String. It is really odd that only string is having that problem

No problem.
Cannot put it here due to size. Do you want me to send ot to your kontakt@.. email address ?
Otherwise I put in on a webserver to download. But that will then be tomorrow.
Have to go now.
