@mikee47 The samples MeteoControl and WebSkeletonApp each show examples of the use of SPIFFs for storing both web pages and a user-preferences config.json file. I used this approach in my app but Im unhappy at the prospect of a future OTA update that I release to my customers splatting all over their configuration settings.
The problem is that there are two type of files here - those that can be regarded as part of the software ( the html and js and css files) and those that are owned by the user. They need to be kept separate!
Mike - you suggested the use of IMPORT_FSTR to store an html file. That would fix this issue ! But I see just one example in HttpServer_ConfigNetwork - is this because it is a good idea that is yet to see wider use?
