is this coloring:
It's inconsistent
Also hard to read
I'm ok with that being the activated color for the button, that is fine
but the text shouldn't be the same color
Perhaps a slightly offwhite
Also, the text changes size, that's no bueno

Well what I'm saying is that if the font stays the same size, and witha black outline, it's ok for it to be the same color
we should change it later eventually probably, but for now, it's fine
It accurately highlights what is selected
for exampel:
imo do it best you think it should look like, and i'll try to make it skinnable after the release

neon buttons (well just the back button), skin, rank/country/ready icons, loadscreen and logo look like 6 differently designed things
fonts can be added relatively easily
at least i think, it's worth trying, outline and stuff might get messed up

for two reasons
1) it makes all our icons fonts, making it hard to switch skins (e.g. to a different iconset); and almost impossible at this stage where we have icons as images (UI code would require rework)
2) windows seems to have issue displaying some unicode fonts, #81

personally i think it's best to avoid changing things that work (i'm fairly happy with the current icon set except the back button and the two missing ones) if you think we might not like it
e.g. i dislike the human colors from the example you've given me (i think it's a downgrade); the robot one is an upgrade but could be using better colors too
maybe less orange
it's of course hard to judge things like that without seeing them in the UI
but the current human one is OK imo
i just have no idea about consistency. .

basically the current UI is bad at telling players how the map can be used: 1v1, 2v2, team, ffa, etc.
i think this makes skirmish fairly hard for newbies to understand

in general modoptions are something I'd hide from users. Just put the relevant ones directly on the UI with some sort of config
but other lobbies can change them arbitrarily

Capturepoint is ready to be released, just at the moment the scoreboard displays whenever it isn't explicitly disabled and hiding the board has proven to be annoyingly difficult.

btw about the icon things
look, the icons were randomly grabbed from various possibly dubious sources forever ago. They don't look particularly good. The one's I'm drawing are line art, and at 32x32 they don't look too impressive, but I'm doing them at 32x32 because they get scaled down by the lobbies, and when they do the antialiasing kicks in and they look quite nice
Plus, with PSD for all of them that makes new ones easy to make
so bear with me, there is a method to the madness

No lobby will ever display ranks at 32x32, at least I'm counting on it
32x32 is a hell of a lot of space to waste next to a name. Most will display at 16x16 or so
so yeah, if they get displayed at 32x32, that's not going to look that nice, but the chances of that happening are really rare imo

still i wonder if maybe it could've been a simpler system
e.g. after 3 golden down arrows you get 3 silver down arrows
but the style isn't bad

i got this going (on the release page in github)

This alpha release offers basic lobby functionality and is mainly meant as a test for experienced players and a way for us to get feedback.
Expect to run into many issues and have things running slowly. While we did spend an extensive amount of time bug testing, there are still open issues and optimization paths that weren't attempted.

I'd change the last line, it's inaccurate: it counts contributors from various unrelated library projects like lcs or i18n
worth just saying forb helped with art, and turbo/kr/anarchid did a few random things here and there
but other than that it looks good imo
isn't perfection but we did a lot of work on it and i'm happy with this release
