Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
@dynamite-ready what do you mean by service hooks?
dynamite-ready
@dynamite-ready
The feature that listens to your Bitbucket/Github account to automatically start builds.
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
Those should be added automatically if the user you connect to those services has admin access to the repo
dynamite-ready
@dynamite-ready
Does it poll Bitbucket/Github, or wait for a message?
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
and no, your Strider account could be local, you'd just need a proxy of sorts, like localtunnel or ultrahook
it waits, github/bitbucket hit an endpoint
dynamite-ready
@dynamite-ready
Any documentation or tutorials for that?
dynamite-ready
@dynamite-ready
Oh! Thanks.
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
it's pretty easy, setup one of those, set the url they provide as SERVER_NAME env (plus github/bitbucket envs), and then start strider .

@dynamite-ready
One last question, it looks like the "Deploy" and "Test" buttons on the dashboard job panels don't work. Is that a known bug, or am I doing something dumb?
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
they should work. The dashboard doesn't always get the freshest state..
once you hit it, click on the project, and see if it started
dynamite-ready
@dynamite-ready
Thank you. The project is awesome btw. :+1:
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
Glad you like it. Wish we had more help though
Ken Perkins
@kenperkins
Hello! Trying to figure out some build problems and I'm unsure where to start. A couple of different situations I'm trying to track down. First is jobs that sometimes just don't go from Prepare phase to Test phase. No error, but the test phase doesn't happen, and the build is failed. No other errors that I can see.

Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
Try running strider with DEBUG=strider*
Ken Perkins
@kenperkins
is that a build config? strider config?
Ken Perkins
@kenperkins
ok so I've confirmed that I'm getting debug level in the logs (assuming it's correct as I see some debug: entries) but still no idea why a job failed
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
Nothing looks suspicious? Which provider are you using and how is the job triggered?
Ken Perkins
@kenperkins
sorry was eating
let me look at my config
Ken Perkins
@kenperkins
@knownasilya I think I'm getting somewhere (at least why my logs are off). We're wrapping strider with a custom executor (it appaers) so trying to figure out why the log level mapping isn't getting through
actually, it's using strider.lib.logging. so I'm guessing if I'm seeing debug: in the logs that means the strider logger has gotten the level properly from env
I'm stressed that we're using such an old build it's probably not worth debugging (1.7.7)
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
yeah, that's a bit old :)
Viktor Likin
@vlikin
Hello. Could you help me to catch a moment when a job(a build of a project) is deleted? I need to dispose third party resources. Regards.
Viktor Likin
@vlikin
I am developing a plugin. To make changes applied I restart strider. No changes. Should I clear any Strider's cache?
Thank you.
Viktor Likin
@vlikin
Hello. The function callback does not work for the test phase. I am investigating the code. I am looking the place where Strider invokes phase callbacks. Could anybody help me? Thank you.
Viktor Likin
@vlikin
Hello. How could I change project config during a phase execution? I need track reserved ports. Thank you.
Ernesto Ortiz Gómez
@ernestoort
Greetings. Is there a way to delete all jobs associated to a project ?
Anzumana Taal
@Anzumana
hey anyone here that could help me out for a sec ?
cybermerlin
@cybermerlin
hi. what better - team city OR strider ?
or mb jenkins?
how power give me strider ?
Connor (Vectrix)
@connorhartley
Hey
Andy
@hongkongkiwi
Hi Guys, really like Strider
but it looks like we havn't received any updates for 5 months. Is this project being actively maintained? Is there a better fork to use?
Oliver Salzburg
@oliversalzburg
@hongkongkiwi When I stopped helping out, only @knownasilya was maintaining it. Not sure if he got help in the meanwhile, but, given what you're asking, I guess not
Ayrton Freeman
@ayr-ton
Hey folks, 2 quick questions:
  • Is the docker support for builds stable? Like, could I run a build and choose a based docker image to run? Like travis and circleci? Also, the worker with Docker is stable? Looking at the webpage and git that was not very clear, but I can find some repositories inside github that seems to do doe this.
  • Do you have any cases of open source projets and/or companies using Strider?
    Thanks :D
Is the project dead?
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
Not officially dead, but I'm the only maintainer and have limited time. With that said, I've been putting in more work. Docker super is kinda beta, but should generally work.
Alexander Ressler
@aressler38

With the latest strider v2.4.5, whenever I try to go to a gitlab project page like /{username}/{project}/?ember=true, the UI looks messed up. If I drop the ?ember=true part, then the server never responds to the request. I tried using v1.11.0, and that works, but the gitlab webhooks don't trigger builds; they return HTTP 404 errors.

Is there some extra debug logging that I can add to figure out why the webhooks don't work in v1.11.0? I've tried setting DEBUG="strider*"

Alexander Ressler
@aressler38
Ok, I may have figured somethig out. I installed v1.11.0 and then manually install strider-gitlab@2.0.0. The web hooks are now working.
Alexander Ressler
@aressler38
For my use case of pushing git tags and wanting to run npm publish after test success, this is so much better than jenkins. Very cool! Thanks for this tool!
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
@aressler38 thanks, I'll have a look
Wish I actually got notified when there was a message here.
Ilya Radchenko
@knownasilya
@aressler38 give 2.4.6 a try
