Hi @SafaAlfulaij

Tatoeba uses Sphinx as a search engine, and therefore not all the code for the search will be in Tatoeba's codebase.

In Tatoeba's code, a starting point could be https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/blob/dev/app/Controller/SentencesController.php#L590

But it's probably not the only place that handles the search feature.

@RyckRichards , you might want to git pull as well before changing any thing. If you forked it a long time ago, your fork can be outdated and that will give you conflicts to solve before making a pull request to Tatoeba.

something that currently bothers me a bit is that there are multiple projects related to Tatoeba's goals floating around, with new ones every once in a while popping up

such as https://voice.mozilla.org/

fragmentation of efforts is very likely slowing the availability of open, quality datasets of sentence examples, I'd say

each one of them presents itself as working towards a certain objective; but that doesn't make any of the projects fundamentally different, because the efforts and possibilities of usage are always the same

but I guess it shouldn't matter too much if in the end you can just download everything and merge in a large dataset. but it may not be that simple, and there's still replicated effort in infrastructure too

So at least for the case of Common Voice, you can be reassured that efforts will not be too fragmented.

Hi there, I have a suggestion for a new feature (if feasible): it would be nice to have open source tools that optionally (that is, one can choose to show or hide it) generates for sentences the phonetic transcription, so one can have a more specialized way to see how a sentence is pronounced

For Esperanto this has no sence, because this language is absolutely phonetical. :-) If I need to know how to pronounce an an English word, I use Google translate.... and then I do not know if it is British or US-pronunciation.
