Hey everyone. Just noticed I've been added to the core team and happy to be here. Quick question. What is the policy for pull requests now? Should I continue making pull requests from my fork, or am I okay now to just us a branch in the upstream repo?
Jeremy Grifski
@jrg94
Feel free to make a branch off the repo. Be aware that I do typically delete branches after they’re merged though.
Jeremy Grifski
@jrg94
While we're here: just wanted to say I've been a little busy lately, so sorry if pull requests have just been chilling. I'm going to try to get to them today.
@Noah11012 has been doing an excellent job of merging those.

Hey! It’s been awhile! We have a few milestones I’d like to hit before the end of the year if anyone is interested in helping. First off, 250 snippets. We’re really close already. I think we’re about 30 away. Also, I’d like to hit the 100 article milestone. We can do that easily if anyone wants to help transition the original articles to the new site.

@jrg94
Cool stuff! I’ve used it a bit but I’m bad with JavaScript. Haha it’s fun when you finally get a nice graph.
Muhammad
@mraza007
Thats true and I totally agree with you but the graph looks really cool

@jrg94 or anyone else who is interested: I have almost finished splitting out our run/testing framework into a new project. I have named it glotter: https://github.com/auroq/glotter

Currently there's no documentation on the new repo, but that will change soon.

If you're interested in seeing what it looks like when implemented into a project, take a look at the diff here:

https://github.com/TheRenegadeCoder/sample-programs/compare/master...glotter

The two main pieces are the .glotter. yml file which is settings and configuration for glotter and runner.py which is the integration for the runner. There are also 3 decorators that are used for integration with tests and project types.

I'm still working on some integration with pytest/test running, but you should be able to use the run or download commands with no trouble.

Start with python runner.py --help for usage instructions.

@jrg94
This is so exciting! Any plans to do a formal writeup on it?
Parker Johansen
@auroq
What kind of writeup did you have in mind?
Jeremy Grifski
@jrg94
I was just thinking like a release article which talks about what glotter is, how it came to be, how it works, etc.
Parker Johansen
@auroq
Ya. I could do that. Going to start with a README, but a back story is a great idea
Jeremy Grifski
@jrg94
Yeah, whatever works! I’m excited regardless. Haha

Hey @jrg94. How’s it going? So for game of life in python, it just dawned on me that I never actually pushed my final changes for you to review :(. I’m so sorry about that and any confusion this may have caused.

Long story short tkinter seems to be deprecated so i did alternate implementation which works but requires some interaction from the user. if you could re-open PR #254 at your earliest convenience, I’ll push up my changes for you to review.

Jeremy Grifski
@jrg94
Sounds great! I’ll reopen it shortly.
Also, it’s great to hear from you. Hope you’re doing well.

@2Clutch
Thanks! Likewise.

Hey friends! I haven't touched this space in awhile, and I know it integrates with GitHub well. That said, how would y'all feel about making the move to Discord?
Here's an invite link if you're interested: https://discord.gg/5CHchF
Otherwise, I'm probably going to shut this down in the next few days.
Just made a pull request to update the README, so it reads with the new Discord: TheRenegadeCoder/sample-programs#1880
