Currently trying to make a deposit in truebit-os however I get a timeout every time I try to make the deposit which seems to be related to gas issue. My geth node gives me this warning before the transaction is submitted:
WARN [05-08|15:18:56.459] Gas estimation capped by limited funds   original=15014647 balance=204188000000000000 sent=0 gasprice=800000000000 fundable=255235
Anyone has an idea of what's going wrong and how to fix it?

gas is insanely high atm, you need more ETH in your wallet to do the tx

Hey folks. Question for the devs in here, is truebit functionality necessarily tied to the Ethereum blockchain, or could the protocol be bridged to another chain if, eventually, something overtakes ethereum as the gold standard of web3?

I'm mostly speculating as I'm not a developer myself, but thought it might be a relevant question for the big brains in here :)

If that is the case, I would assume there would have to be a function for retiring/minting on each chain

@twilawa:matrix.org Truebit needs a smart enough virtual machine to be able to evaluate the one step of execution of WASM microcode on-chain; so it limits the kind of chains that Truebit could run on is limited, but most new chains are providing EVM compatibility due to the superior tooling around it

minting/retiring is a good question perhaps @teutsch can help us out with that one!

My knowledge here is limited, do you have examples of chains which currently do and do not have this EVM compatibility? It looks as though cryptocom recently added the functionality, so theoretically, if truebit becomes a necessary part of the web3 ecosystem, any chain which wants to add truebit functionality could add this capability to their own? Provided their architecture would support such a feature change, of course.

i imagine I'm putting the cart well before the horse here, but, the thought came to mind 😁

I would also be interested to know if there's a way to track the approximate current burn rate based on # of task solvers/verifiers active on the network. I assume the blog post will cover that in more detail, but for those in the chat who have access to truebitOS, does that sound overly impractical or fairly reasonable, if someone were to be inclined to do so (much like how there's a web portal to run the current burn and retire rate)

How does TrueBit reduce fee’s for the average user? Say if they were using UniSwap to buy BTC with ETH, would it prompt for an amount of TRU to use for fee’s instead of ETH. Is that the concept?

Mass adoption should decrease load posed from dapps, hence less transaction fee on-chain (because work is now done off-chain)

Ok, so the UniSwap fee would still be in ETH, but low because network is not congested. Does that mean dapp’s etc. hold & spend TRU?
