Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:21
um I'm wondering if I should just give you access to bitbucket?
and thank you for the link @harsh29 . I checked and I should have those env variables configured via heroku
So I guess to start are there any questions you have about the project?
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29
Dec 05 2015 22:23
how many people are working on the project
?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:23
It's just myself at the moment but we're holding try out's ;D
Honestly I've just gotten as far as I could get solo but now it's time to take a team together to manage this whole thing
it's too difficult to manage deploying to multiple locations and selling to people along side coding and everything else involved in this

What is technology stack ?

Dec 05 2015 22:24
ok…..what is the added benefit of using the app…..vs someone directly messaging their manager
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:24
mean.io but i'd love to change to backbone or something if possible
My application sends out a message to all the coworkers immediately. By the time the manager notices someone had an emergency and can't come in to work, there might be people who have already messaged him offering to fill in
it leverages asynchronous communication to put it technically
and if you've ever worked a job where it's busy and all of a sudden the manager is making calls for 2 hours while trying to balance a thousand things, you know the need for this app
it quite simply text messages people asking to fill in. There's no signing up or logging in on the people's part. That's how the design is different. I specialize in designing things to be simple and easy.

Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:27
Yeah I mean the bulk of this will be selling it to people and managing that process once we debug the MVP

Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:28
of course! If you really want to program more to it we can always add a schedule
that seems to be a popular request but we have plenty of sign ups as the program is
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29
Dec 05 2015 22:29
how many sign ups….?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:29

Dec 05 2015 22:29

what about u tyler?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:33
you just have to use grunt --force
I've worked formally as a developer for one startup
that's now called crowds.io
I took the startup engineering course on coursera so that gave me a pretty good understanding actually
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:33
this business has been run through a startup accelerator (by myself)
someone who works in business development has guided me through. I've done lots of ground work like interviewing 10+ people
surveys, etc
the idea started way different than it is today

Dec 05 2015 22:36
is @agirlinruby also involved?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai

so that might mean spending money (which I haven't raised any venture capital funds)
Miranda Ross
@agirlinruby
Dec 05 2015 22:37
I would love to tag along, seems like you've put a solid amount of work into it. Although I am not an extremely experienced programmer yet, I am a very skilled photographer. Photoshop is second nature to me as well as some illustrator experience if that could be of use.
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29
Dec 05 2015 22:38
nice…… that seems valuable :)
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:38
ruby are you interested in people and managing the sales process all the way through? It means talking with business owners to see what their requirements are and listening to us beg you not to have to modify the program too drastically
it would be nice to have a diversified group as it generally lends itself to greater creativity
dip and harsh i sent you invites on linkedin
Dipak Telangre
@dipaktelangre
Dec 05 2015 22:40
That will be good start
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:40
basically on top of programming someone (me included) is going to have to manage selling this to companies
and installing it
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29
Dec 05 2015 22:40
installing it?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:40
we're really 95% of the way with programming
yeah installation at the company requires very little
it's the manager signing up (email + password is all that's needed)
then they add phone numbers and team member names
and it should be all set up and no further maintanance is required
Dipak Telangre
@dipaktelangre
Dec 05 2015 22:41
There is no admin panel to do that ?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:41
unless they have questions which they shouldn't because everything is automatic
they act as administrator dip
they have the admin panel you're describing. It's already built
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29
Dec 05 2015 22:41
seems i am not local to your area….i will not be able to help in selling...
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:42
the company employees dont need to log in for anything. They just enter the day/time/phone number
harsh you live in a city dude. If you get this to one major company we're earning bank every month
All I had to do was ask a grocery store CEO and he signed us up for 19 stores
in a 10 minute conversation. I'm sure the sales process will be it's own horse to carry
or whatever the phrase is :P
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29

Dec 05 2015 22:45
Bye
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:45
Yeah I like that you can provide a story for it where we're focused on the technical aspects
some people are more persuaded by stories and creativity while others want numbers
right brain programmer vs photographer/photoshop stylist
To be honest I'm impressed with both of your programming credentials @harsh29 and @dipaktelangre
Miranda Ross
@agirlinruby
Dec 05 2015 22:50
I don't live in a big town, I'm in Idaho. I am right in the middle of three large companies. Paper products, ammunition, and power systems.
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:50
harsh should I just add you on bitbucket?
agirl if you can make the sale at any one of those companies I"ll give you 20% of the money it generates every month for the remainder of the service (which could be years).
20% is the standard sales commission in the industry I'm told
wait a week or two for us to get the website fixed and you can demo it for them. They probably wont need to sign up actually, so if you want to try walking in and showing them the homepage that should work perfectly
I've had over 90% success rate in talking to businesses so long as I get a hold of somebody who has real responsbility over that decision
Miranda Ross
@agirlinruby
Dec 05 2015 22:53
How well does it scale for large companies with multiple shifts?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:53
the money will basically depend on your ability to make them a customer
yes. It scales to any size company under 9999 people and we can add a digit to change that to 99999
right now there's a group system where you have the company ----> stores -----> teams
the person who first signs up is the company owner who writes in all the phone numbers one time
that's your set up. It should probably take 30 minutes
then the teams all have at least one manager on them to accept messages
but you could have a store like West Side Store. City A in Idaho, City B in Idaho.
East Side Store, etc
Miranda Ross
@agirlinruby
Dec 05 2015 22:55
Ok sounds good. And can they change the #s themselves?
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:55
yep!
Miranda Ross
@agirlinruby
Dec 05 2015 22:55
Perfect
Tyler Langan
@TylerL-uxai
Dec 05 2015 22:55
all the manager has to do is log in. And when you enter each person with a phone number and name, if the person is a manager, you can optionally add an email so they can log in to the system too
it's very simple and easy hopefully
And the cool thing is then you're earning money every month without having to spend a lot (or any) time on this. So if you sign up a billion companies you're making a ton of money but you can focus your hours on photography
the money sort of snowballs with each person you sign up
but first let's get it working!
Harsh Trivedi
@harsh29
Dec 05 2015 22:57
