Leigh Caplan
@texel
Any idea what's involved to address it?
@basarat sorry I didn't see your response the other day
So this issue is basically just a reflection of the upstream issues w/ the grammar?
Microsoft/TypeScript-TmLanguage#79
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
@texel yup :rose:
Leigh Caplan
@texel
@basarat Ha fair enough. So I guess I should go complain in the TS gitter? ;)
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
Not really :) The TS team has an amazing code based tokenizer : https://basarat.gitbooks.io/alm/content/contributing/syntax.html Just that not all IDEs have the luxury of spending time on special casing their tokenizer just for the TypeScript compiler :rose:
Leigh Caplan
@texel
Hm ok... I guess I don't know enough about the implementation to speak on it one way or the other. I do know that the handling of decorators is a pain point, and it seems that VS Code and Atom are affected. Just trying to figure out the best way to make the issue visible to someone who would have the knowledge (and time, etc) to fix it.

The issue you pointed to is the correct / perfect place Microsoft/TypeScript-TmLanguage#79 :rose:

Dominic Watson
@intellix
struggling to get this plugin to ever work :S
sometimes I type and it just endlessly queues tasks, other days I get a load of errors about compilation contexts
Dominic Watson
@intellix
think it's when I have compilation errors, then the TS stuff just fails entirely
if I have one of these errors, it stops functioning entirely: The file "xyz.component.ts" is not included in the TypeScript compilation context. If this is not intended, please check the "files" or "filesGlob" section of your tsconfig.json file.
Dominic Watson
@intellix
still get the feeling that the TS support in Atom is largely unusable and am not sure what's different to how it works in VSC. Are there any settings I can perhaps play with to get something similar?
Dominic Watson
@intellix
I'm using angular-cli to generate a TS project, so have a process running that compiles the stuff. I've turned off compileOnSave as well
David Kontorovsky
@dkontorovsky
Hello! Does anybody know if atom-typescript requires the jsdoc Atom package to generate documentation?
Hum. I just found docblockr and looks very popular. I guess I'll try that.
arun.jayapal
@deostroll
Anyway to minimize the typescript window?
Filype Pereira
@FilypePereira_twitter
can we use atom-typescript and grunt ts at the same time?
I think I had a tsconfig file as well as grunt ts configured. The files were saved in 2 different places. That was a bit confusing
Dominic Watson
@intellix
everytime I come to use atom-typescript, I just got a large queue of tasks within atom: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hmes37me9qanhkj/Screenshot%202016-05-17%2015.06.22.png?dl=0
I don't understand why it never really works
in fact. if I kill atom, and try to get a suggestion of which item to import, it takes about 5-10 seconds to come up with a suggestion, so I guess it gets backlogged with info requests
Yousef Shanawany
@AskYous
I don't have that icon at all in my atom
Dominic Watson
@intellix
appears when there are things in a queue. Everything is typically instant but my TypeScript is taking something like 5-10 seconds to respond to requests, so it ends up getting backlogged
Yousef Shanawany
@AskYous
what queue?
Dominic Watson
@intellix
atom tasks
if I ask for import autocomplete a couple of times, it goes to about 11 and clicking on it, here are a list of the tasks: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r41yk5803e16zca/Screenshot%202016-05-17%2015.15.13.png?dl=0
ah, apparently a workaround is to move it inside a folder like /src, of which was already done. I put it into the root directory as well cause it wasn't quite working
Dominic Watson
@intellix
doesn't seem to help. Can test it against a newly generated angular-cli project
Rob Yoder
@robyoder
I've never been able to get the project build to work for me. It always just "succeeds" even when there are errors. Am I missing something obvious?
Googling gave me nothing :/
Rob Yoder
@robyoder
Ah. Looks like my out setting in tsconfig is the culprit... Sad day.

Having issues with syntax highlighting - any suggestions?

@emilime93
Haha could any1 help me, i accidentally closed the navidation sidebar and would like it back. and i cant find anything :(

@mhartington
Hey there, was wondering if anyone very familiar with the plugin and it's internal would be up for a chat about them. Willing to compensate for time
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
@mhartington willing to have a chat. Take it to email? basaratali @ gmail :rose:
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
fwiw my support has been highly lacking because I moved to creating my own IDE : http://alm.tools/ which gives me more freedom (and simplicity) to provide special TypeScript specific UI / UX / DX. You can use it today npm install alm -g. But I do pop in here time to time cause I do care about Atom :rose:
Daniel Hoek
@scycer
Nice plugin :) i am having an issue with the autocomplete though. With no other plugins installed other than what comes with Atom the autocomplete never shows up (Mac OSX), where would i start to look to fix this?
Lukáš Kováč
@bossqone
Hello. Is anyone using typedoc here ?
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
Shameless plug : I used typedoc to create this : https://basarat.gitbooks.io/alm/content/features/documentation-view.html
Not as good as typedoc .... this is designed to be incremental for that quick insight on source code

@alexsasharegan
So I've been playing around with typescript, and as a big fan of the babel es6 syntax highlighting, I'm noticing a huge difference. I've done my due diligence researching what I can, but
I can't seem to
find much information on extending syntax highlighting or correcting issues with highlighting not functioning.
Alex Regan
@alexsasharegan
Is typescript's syntax highlighting less extensive? I know the es6 syntax is detailed, but even vanilla js had more highlighting support than what I'm seeing

@Ptival
@basarat are you working on a "show the type of the argument to be filled" feature?
