CMakeLists.txt of the Linux driver used to detect whether it was built independently or as a part of the whole libuavcan build process: https://github.com/UAVCAN/libuavcan/pull/143/files#diff-3a49defeb553fb403bcdf9be9ae76f8eL27

Yeah, that’s what I was going to try to re-enable by adding a higher-level cmake file

Hello, any advise how to generate custom message definitions, on the tutorial, it says to create a folder, and under it should I create empty files like 272.XXX.
Pavel Kirienko
@pavel-kirienko
That's exactly right.

In NodeStatus message there are constants as MAX_BROADCASTING_PERIOD_MS = 1000 . I would like to confirm something... Is it OK to change these values as long as all other uavcan devices attached to the same bus uses the same constants?

@pavel-kirienko great, thanks for the heads up, coincidently, i'm based in stockholm, any more information about the summit you mentioned?

the new forum is up and running: https://forum.uavcan.org/
it is quite empty right now; our web guy is currently trying to import the content from Google Groups into the forum
Pavel Kirienko
@pavel-kirienko
okay, the web guy ended up being unable to copy the content of the old group to the new forum, but he managed to transfer the user accounts. Each user got a random password which should be reset using the password recovery feature or by logging in via Google or Github. Here's the link again: https://forum.uavcan.org

Hi @pavel-kirienko is there must be canardEncodeScalar my sensor data? because my sensor data is big, maybe 100 byte on a package. every part of sensor_data_t encode, it will cost too much time.
Pavel Kirienko
@pavel-kirienko
@Cherish-Gww please describe what you're trying to do
Cherish-Gww
@Cherish-Gww
I want use libcanard to send a type named sensor_data_t, and this struct have many member, whether every member of this struct must use canardEncodeScalar?
or only use canardBroadcast to send my data, without canardEncodeScalar every member of sensor_data_t
Pavel Kirienko
@pavel-kirienko
you must ensure that the structure is encoded according to the serialization rules defined in the specification. If you are on a little-endian platform, and you don't use float16, then you probably can avoid using the scalar serialization routines available in the library
Cherish-Gww
@Cherish-Gww
@pavel-kirienko Thank you very much

@/all Would anyone object to closing this chat room in favor of the new forum at https://forum.uavcan.org? I would like to keep all discussions in one place as much as possible.

@pavel-kirienko Regarding creating multiple instances of nodes in single thread application. Does libuavcan need to be built with different configuration compared to default? In my application I am crating multiple emulated nodes that shall represent different node types on the CAN network. My approach is to create multiple uavcan_linux::NodePtr objects to use the same linux interface (slcan0).
Pavel Kirienko
@pavel-kirienko

Does libuavcan need to be built with different configuration compared to default?

no, the default configuration also works

@pavel-kirienko Ok, manu thanks for quick response!

I think, seeing as nobody objects to my proposition above, we are now supposed to close this chat room

@Zarkopafilis yes, I think it's best to avoid spreading information across many sources; we have the forum at forum.uavcan.org and GitHub

Trying to get the GUI tool working when installed from a local directory on a new Ubuntu 18.04 machine, oddly it seems to work when I run sudo pip3 install --upgrade git+https://github.com/UAVCAN/gui_tool@master, but when I run sudo pip3 install --upgrade /home/jschall/gui_tool (with origin/master checked out) and then try to run it, it throws an error ImportError: cannot import name 'pyqtgraph'
When I do the install from the local directory there is no directory /usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/uavcan_gui_tool/thirdparty/pyqtgraph, but there is when I install from github
