    Thanks 😀

    Ah, very cool. And definitely CDK is in a very similar category as Adapt. We’ve looked at it, but haven’t really used it much. It would be super interesting to hear your thoughts on comparisons.
    Obviously, they have better support for AWS. 😁 But we have better support for anything else...
    And last I looked, CDK just transforms to CloudFormation, but can’t monitor or control dynamically.

    Hello
    I'd like to be a contributor, what is the current state of the project and where is it heading to?
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    I am more confident of JavaScript, and Firebase, I'm an early adopter of ReactJs.
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Hi Joe!
    There's been two of us working on the project for a while, but we only recently made the project public.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Okay...
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    It's written in TypeScript. Do you know TypeScript?
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Yeah i know TypeScript, not yet confident in it but I'm knowledgeable.
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Ok, great. It's not too difficult to make the transition to TypeScript from JavaScript. So I'm sure you'll be fine.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Yeah
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Do you have anything in particular that you'd like to work on? Anything that you'd like to use Adapt for?
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Hmmm... I have a messenger project I'm working on... Since I'm still new to react so I'm trying to adapt to it...
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Tell me a little more about your messenger project. Maybe Adapt could be useful there.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Okay... It more like twitter, Using Reactjs with Firebase... I'm using it to get familiar with react...
    What's the difference between Adapt and ReactJs
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Because my project is building twitter using ReactJs as the frontend and Firebase for backend...
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    React is for building your user interface. Adapt is for building your backend. So if you've already selected Firebase for your backend, Adapt probably isn't as useful for you right now. We may support some Firebase-like functionality in the future. But it will be a while before that happens.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Okay... Maybe i can help with the Firebase integrateons...
    Integrations
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Hmm...that's a particularly difficult thing to try to tackle.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    What's the challenge?..
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Firebase is a fairly complex set of services that would need some significant design work up front to support them well.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Yeah... Although I'm comfortable around firebase and confident.
    We can start with Firebase Functions which is the ultimate to building backend API
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    That is probably a good place to start within Firebase
    So probably the best way to start out on this would be to create a new Firebase component library project and create Adapt components in that library for Firebase Functions.
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    You'll need to create an Firebase deployment plugin to go along with the components. So that's definitely a little harder work than just creating components that work with one of our existing plugins.
    The AWS plugin or the K8S plugin are probably the best two things to look at to see examples of how a plugin works.
    Manish Vachharajani
    @mvachhar
    Do you think using the Action plugin is an option @mterrel?
    or rather the Action component, to avoid writing a custom plugin?
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Yes, definitely. I forgot that the k8s library actually now uses the Action component, so that's probably the right one to look at, not AWS.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Ok
    Manish Vachharajani
    @mvachhar
    Let us know if you need any help in getting things to work with Google cloud SDK and firebase with regard to the action plugin.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Ok
    I'm gonna need Gmail account for Adapt to connect with Firebase.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Been brainstorming... I need a benchmark, i need a guideline on how you built AWS or MongoDB into Adapt...
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    So probably the best thing to do here is for me to write a little documentation for all users that want to do something similar. I'll try to write up a doc in the next day or so and send it to you. And as you try to use that doc and have questions, I'll revise the doc and eventually it will become part of the user guide. Does that sound ok?
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Yeah it does.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Let me know when you have the guide ready.
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    Sorry, I wasn't able to get to it until now. But I should have something ready for you to read through today.
    Mark Terrel
    @mterrel
    I have a draft of a tutorial on the Action component on my fork on GitHub: https://github.com/mterrel/adapt/blob/action_tutorial/docs/tutorial_action/index.md
    Sorry that took me a while to write up. Please read through it and give me some feedback. Hopefully it's a good start, although you'll likely still need more info.
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    Ok
    officialjoemayami
    @officialjoemayami
    I sent you a dm on Twitter outside the scope of this project i would like you to review and revert. Thank you.
