@bencz
I downloaded the Debian image from the link I sent here .... I tried to connect via ssh but was unsuccessful ...

Built my own image https://wolke.linn.io/s/rNF4jYjS3JQDBLt
it has autologin on vnc, so you may want to disable that:
sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/getty@tty1.service.d/autologin.conf
sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/serial-getty@.service.d/autologin.conf
If you want to create your own image see my fork:

@rpsene
@jr-santos98 could you follow the process to create an image that can be added as public at Minicloud?
Joel Linn
@JoelLinn
autologin can be disabled by modifying build scripts but i didnt bother
Alexandre Bencz
@bencz
@JoelLinn oh yeah!!
Thanks!
Junior Santos
@jr-santos98
@JoelLinn I got the following error when trying to create the image: https://oplab9.parqtec.unicamp.br/pub/teste/junior/teste-debian.png
But, I will try to put the image you made as a publisher. As soon as I get it, I'll let you know.
Alexandre Bencz
@bencz
I'm using that Debian image from @JoelLinn ..., just making a stress test...

@jr-santos98 if debootstrap cant run /bin/true thats usually because qemu-user-static and/or binfmt-support are not installed
it needs those to chroot into the image and run scripts/apt in it using the target arch.
did you install all packages i have listed on top of the readme? what is the system image you are trying to build this on? debian 10?
Joel Linn
@JoelLinn
@bencz I see you have filed an issue with godbolt. Did you just try the official site or did someone try to host it themselves?
Junior Santos
@jr-santos98
@JoelLinn I added your image as public on Minicloud. It is named as: "Debian 11 ppc64 - BE".
Rafael Sene
@rpsene
nice!
Thanks @jr-santos98 and @JoelLinn !!!
Joel Linn
@JoelLinn
Cool, did you use my upload or did you build it yourself?
@neosaldina thanks for the question...
Joel Linn
@JoelLinn
Tbh i dont feel to bad about „bad“ performance on BE with Power8 🤷🏽‍♂️ I regard that combination as a research tool, afaik user code can still be compiled with newer instructions enabled
mind everything before Power8 is unsupported on all modern ppc64le distros. So ppc64 is the only viable option for those systems
Rafael Sene
@rpsene
@JoelLinn we will be adding P9 back to the cloud soon.
Joel Linn
@JoelLinn
cool, was there some issues with the server hardware or why was it taken down ?
Rafael Sene
@rpsene
@JoelLinn we had a bad time with slow VMs with the available version of kvm back in the begining of this year when we upgra
upgraded the openstack
Rafael Sene
@rpsene
we are going to upgrade again with the latest version which includes an upgraded kvm with fixes

Hi, I created an instance with FreeBSD13-head-r359571 image but I can't figure how I connect via SSH, I tried to connect to freebsd@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br with no chance, does anyone has a clue here?
Joel Linn
@JoelLinn
Did you use the correct port?
also try root, itll tell you the correct username (at least for most linux images)
mamonet
@mamonet_gitlab
Yes, I used the correct port. I also create a new user but I'm not sure if freebsd@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br is the correct host I should connect to!
Rafael Sene
@rpsene

Yes, I used the correct port. I also create a new user but I'm not sure if freebsd@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br is the correct host I should connect to!

I do not remember exactly whar was set as user for the FreeBSD image, but ssh user@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br -p 40xxxshould work.

@jr-santos98 can you help here ^

@DavidARivkin
Hi, I just received an email saying my account (just created 2 weeks ago) is ending. I have not even had time to use it yet. I need it for a 2 year research project for the UK NHS. Can someone from the management team please setup my account NOT to expire for 2 years please?
Rafael Sene
@rpsene
@jr-santos98 please, add @DavidARivkin in the long term users list ^
Junior Santos
@jr-santos98
@mamonet_gitlab This FreeBSD image is not closed, it needs to be configured. For this, they created these tutorials: https://wiki.freebsd.org/powerpc/QEMU
After you follow it, you will be able to connect via ssh as you normally do with the other images on Minicloud.
Junior Santos
@jr-santos98
@rpsene Done.

@rpsene
@jr-santos98 thanks!

Does anyone know of a code generation tool for PPC64, like xbyak https://github.com/herumi/xbyak or vxil https://git.linaro.org/arm/vixl.git/about/ ?
Rafael Sene
@rpsene
@JoelLinn I will poke some folks inernally. I’m not sure whether or not there is somethign similar. In the past I used to work on the Power SDK, where we implemed a Migration Advisor tool which aimed to help moving from x86_64 to ppc64le by suggesting source code fixes and improvements.
