HI everyone. I am new to the MiniCloud, and having basic problems due to lack of documentation.
I have created an instance on Power8 using Fedora 29 (due to small size and usually good performance for Java) but unlike the tutorial video, I see no way to set ports for things like HTTP access to the JSP I want to create and perhaps more importantly, how the heck do you find out the default log-in ID (I assume root) and password set for any given instance/image? I tried Retrieve Password but it just says "The instance password has not yet been set".
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@DavidARivkin at Minicloud we limit the ports we make available, today only port 22 is open for ssh access. Before you create a VM, you must create or upload a public ssh-key. Then when you create a machine, you are going to access it via <fedora, ubuntu, debian, ubuntu, opensuse> as user, for instance: ubuntu@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br -p 40000
@DavidARivkin we do not provide any other access for running services at Minicloud, because it is not part of this offering.
@DavidARivkin you can do an ssh tunnel to access a different port, though.

@DavidARivkin
Ok, but how (say via the MiniCloud console, do I like into the system (again Fedora 29 used). I did the whole key-pair creation and I can SSH to that port but I cant log-on. So why does the tutorial video show setting up HTTP ports etc. if they are not supported? That kind of sucks to be honest because testing my apps does require HTTPS and (HTTPS) to port 8080.
Any suggestions on how to do an SSH tunnel from say DreamHost (Apache) to this would be appreciated. My area is not IT, but HPC/Computational Science.
To restate what I am doing: SSH using the key and URL/port as described. I then get "Login: " and I try my MiniCloud ID and it says "Password: " and I try my password. "Invalid Login".

@rpsene
@Igortorrente @lcnzg could you help him on getting access to his VMs?
ASAP
Silvio Luiz Stanzani
@LuizStanzani_twitter
i am trying to access the instance, following the instruction on youtube video, silvio@stanzani:~$ ssh ubuntu@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br -p 40650
but it returns ssh: connect to host minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br port 40650: Connection refused
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@LuizStanzani_twitter please, access your secutiry groups and add the port 22 to allow ssh.
Silvio Luiz Stanzani
@LuizStanzani_twitter
i did "Ingress IPv4 TCP 22 (SSH) 0.0.0.0/0"
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
let me check, one second please.
Silvio Luiz Stanzani
@LuizStanzani_twitter
ok

Im only getting TImeout Errors all day for both instances I created. Is everything down and when will it be up again?
David Rivkin, PhD
@DavidARivkin
I just tried again: [david@leopard ~]$ ssh fedora@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br -i ~/Documents/MiniCloud.pem -p 40098
ssh: connect to host minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br port 40098: Connection timed out
[david@leopard ~]$ ssh ubuntu@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br -i ~/Documents/MiniCloud.pem -p 40049
ssh: connect to host minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br port 40049: Connection timed out

@rpsene I've used debian and than switched to ubuntu.

in mind yhat only Ubuntu 18.04 is guarantee to be a P9 ready distro

That's explain it, thanks Rafael.

Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@DavidARivkin as you still getting errors, everything is up an running at Minicloud.

Hey folks, its nice to see the site back up. My account doesn't work after the revamp. Do I need to request a new account? My prior account had special flavors
The interface doesn't seem to let me reset my password either.
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@mcgrof_gitlab please, do request a new account. Also, specify the flavors you used to have.
Luis Chamberlain
@mcgrof_gitlab
Thanks @rpsene
Alright, submitted ! :D
Luis Chamberlain
@mcgrof_gitlab
Hey folks, how long does it take to process an account on average?
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@mcgrof_gitlab Could you check whether or not you received an email from openpower@ic.unicamp.br ?
Luis Chamberlain
@mcgrof_gitlab
@rpsene I just checked and the last one was just the notice that the service is back up online from March 20th
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
interesting, sounds like you didn’t receive the account notification becuae the project luis.chamberlain is running for 131 hours, 5 days.
let me fix it
Luis Chamberlain
@mcgrof_gitlab
ok thanks!
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@mcgrof_gitlab could you please confirm your email?

@mcgrof_gitlab
@rpsene sure! mcgrof@gmail.com

Hi, I haven't used the service for a while and I can't seem to be able to access anymore. How can I find out if my account has been purged?
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
@lbaldoni_gitlab please submit a new request, if you need a long time account (> 30 days), please describe the reason in the request form at https://minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br/
Luigi Baldoni
@lbaldoni_gitlab
@rpsene thanks, done

Is there a way you can help me migrate larger VM size that my account allows. When I try to convert it always fails. Be aware I have important development files on my VM so I can't loose data. I'm building LLVM and I need as much performance as I can get.
Shawn Landden
@shawnl
Also, I could really use forwarded UDP port, in addition to the TCP port.
Luigi Baldoni
@lbaldoni_gitlab
Hello, I haven't used the service for a while and I can't figure out how to connect.
Could you please confirm that in order to connect to an openSUSE instance at 10.8.40.137 I should ssh opensuse@minicloud.parqtec.unicamp.br -p 40137 ?
I'm asking because I receive a "no route to host" error in that case.
David Rivkin, PhD
@DavidARivkin
I am certainly no expert on MiniCloud but I have noticed the same thing from time to time when I create a new VM. I believe that there is quite a delay in getting the DNS propagated as well as the SSH port setup so you may see other errors as well.
Rafael Peria de Sene
@rpsene
We are working on improving the network.
Did you try creating a snapshot of your current image then instantiate it with a bigger flavor?
