Hey Andre, did you ever get the text box background to work? I can't see any code that refers to the setting (other than retrieving and setting the value in Program.Settings). I ask because I've tried to draw it using FillRectangle, but I can't get the appropriate size from _infoTextBox. The background box is just ... wrong. Wrong place, wrong size, and it's even truncating the output when I render it to the background bitmap with the code from andrewvos.com.

hey
as I recall, I used to have a darkened background back when I was using wpinfo
that was back with XP and Win7
did you see that issue I added about html rendering? that may be a way to take care of a lot of formatting options

Yeah I did. I'm hoping to get a few hours tomorrow to really dig into the sizing of _irtb and work out why it sizes weirdly and my fill is in the wrong place.
I need a working build for a project I'm delivering :)
Also - is this chat perpetual (i.e. if you type and I'm not here, I see the message)?

No worries.
Since it's public would you prefer I use your handle rather than name?

either way
anyone who googles me can figure out my name hehe

I ran it earlier, saw you added a crapload of extra options with scripts and all
but didn't try to actually set a wallpaper hehe

Just FYI I'm no great developer. If you see really dumb stuff dont hesitate to condemn/fix as desired

I've never done much winform so that whole project was amateurish too on my part
mostly googling for solutions
when we have a stable version though I want to cut a release branch and build chocolatey packages off it
in case someone else is interested in using it

I saw that (Chocolatey) but I don't really understand why it's useful

I do like the idea of AppVeyor pushing a build to the repository after every commit though.
Yes (enough)

you know how you can install stuff from the command line? like with apt-get on ubuntu

Does it provide compat with Add/Remove Programs (and MSI-type capabilities)?

for another project of mine, Nitrate, I configured AppVeyor to automatically push new versions to chocolatey when I add new commits to a specific git branch
works great
so the uninstall stuff depends on how the package maintainer configured the package

I see. Sounds good in theory.

for something like wpinfo though, all we have is a single exe so it doesn't even need a formal installer
chocolatey uses nuget, that's how you package stuff

I was thinking of writing some sample .WPIs and possibly pre-populating the text with a stock example of some sort
OH it ties in there? Neat

Apr 10 2015 06:46
but you can put powershell scripts and stuff, if you go to chocolatey.org you can see what's in the repo
lots of useful stuff
and it lets you upgrade with a single command too
I like the idea of preconfigured scripts
WMI stuff always confused me :)

The trick is learning WQL, which is not easy
I come from an infrastructure/ops/consulting background so it's more prevalent

ah ok
makes sense
I used to work for a school district, we had roughly 3000 PCs of all kinds of models and I took care of deployments
