Here is an example of why:
I like that I can tell where control flow can change
I feel like being able to set those thins are really nice
Darnell Williams
@Seeker1437
I basically feel like, the compiler gives us the freedom to handle those things individual so we could allow those things to be configured by the use via the color schemes. That way people can have a highly customized experience.
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
ok cool
ill merge it then :)
Darnell Williams
@Seeker1437
haha lgtm :D
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
merged :)

If I wanted to change how the editor handles things like auto brace complete and automatically matching or evaluating the correct indent on the next line, where should I look?
(that needs renaming btw)
see some xaml ones for example
you can implement quite easily lots of editor helpers
that auto insert or move caret when certain patterns are typed
or a certain syntax is completed

@Seeker1437
Oh wow thanks :O

@kekekeks
@danwalmsley how hard would it be to add mono debugging protocol support?
With targeting packs from nuget net core sdk can build for legacy .net profile
The thing is, monodevelop is effectively dead as a separate ide at the current point
So AS could become The dotnet ide for linux
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
Shouldn’t be too hard
The ui is the bit that is lacking
But if we could spend a week on it we could get it working
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
@Seeker1437 @kekekeks now that monodevelop seems pretty much dead
lets breath some new life into this project :D
iv started by updating to latest roslyn
so c# 8 should be working now
Darnell Williams
@Seeker1437
epic :O

@Seeker1437
for the popups are those supposed to be colored?
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
which ones?
Darnell Williams
@Seeker1437
the intellisense ones
like if you over over a class and it shows the fully qualified namespace and such
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
send screenshot
ah code tooltips
yes they are
there is loads of info that can be shown there
Darnell Williams
@Seeker1437
ah okay in my builds they are not being colored
tested on windows and linux
another nice thing would be if the tooltips also respect the zoom of the editor.
Like they would also be bigger or smaller
Dan Walmsley
@danwalmsley
@Seeker1437 that was because it was getting too complex to do it
but im sure it should be possible
Darnell Williams
@Seeker1437
YeaYeah I was looking at ti and it would be a bit of work to get it working

I tried opening the AvalonStudio project in AvalonStudio hehe got this partially while it was loading:

The configured user limit (128) on the number of inotify instances has been reached, or the per-process limit on the number of open file descriptors has been reached.
Reached Max INotify Limit, to use AvalonStudio on Unix increase the INotify Limit
often it is set here: '/proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches'

AH oky this is actually AS telling me what to do on the second line whoops
