@davidmrdavid Just tried it out, and it all seems to work for me. Here's what I did:
  1. mkdir -p ~/.vim/bundle
  2. cd ~/.vim/bundle
  3. git clone https://github.com/VundleVim/Vundle.vim.git
  4. Copied your vimrc in
  5. Added the line Plugin 'tpope/vim-commentary' (this is to test that plugins get loaded)
  6. :PluginInstall
  7. When I close and re-open vim, the gcc command works (it's provided by vim-commentary), so plugins must be getting loaded
Do you see something different?
David Justo
@davidmrdavid
Jun 14 2016 06:24
let me retry with your instructions. one sec
yeah it’s different. Let me explain
after a PluginInstall, my plugins do load. Then I do a “ :q “ twice to exit vim. The next time I open vim, the plugins are no longer loaded

@davidmrdavid What is the output of :echo g:vundle#bundle_dir?
Also, :echo $MYVIMRC should output the same path to your vimrc
David Justo
@davidmrdavid
Jun 14 2016 06:34
lets see
/Users/djusto/.vim/bundle is my bundle dir
and
/Users/djusto/.vimrc is my vimrc
it all seems in order

@nfischer
Jun 14 2016 06:35
If both those commands succeed, at least vundle is being loaded
hmmmm
David Justo
@davidmrdavid
Jun 14 2016 06:35
right. Vundle is being loaded fine. In fact, it’s showing my plugins after PluginInstall. They just disappear as soon as I close the ‘done installing’ buffer
and dont show up the next time I open up vim unless I do ‘PluginList’ or ‘PluginInstall'
here are some pics
the first pic is after PluginInstall

By "they just disappear", do you mean "my status bar disappears"?
David Justo
@davidmrdavid
Jun 14 2016 06:37
then, after “:q” or “:bdelete” it looks like the second screen
and then, next time I open vim…it’s still like the second picture
by disappear is that my statusbar disappears, yes. But I’ve also messed with nerdTree and the same thing happens

:set laststatus=2
^ required for airline and other statusline plugins
Add that to your vimrc, and let me know if fixes it for the status line plugin

you, sir. Are a god
thank you Nate

Haha my pleasure. I ran into the same issue a year back with airline. It's a shame they don't have better docs for that kind of stuff. Hopefully that fixes the nerdtree issue (not sure if it will)

I've contributed a couple times. Mainly, I just do way more vim scripting than a sane person should, so I try to answer questions

Basically, vim is throwing this:

The part of my vimrc pertaining to vundle is:

I'd be thankful if any of you could give a hand. I looked through some git issues, but seem to have none of the errors they encountered :/
