I'm going to take seeing your quote about this as a prod to play with your expresspress repo.
Do you have any form processing in there?

In ExpressPress? no
it’s pretty strictly a blog reader
I’d be interested in learning what you were thinking of, though

OK. Getting back into Node + WP-API and figuring out form processing from an external app are high on my list of things to do.
I'm not sure what to do. Maybe make a wp_enqueue_scripts endpoint to send selective <script> and <style> tags, so a form's JS/CSS will be loaded.
But still need to write a modified AJAX processing script.
Want to be able to use a WordPress form builder (I'm biased towards Caldera Forms.)

I haven’t done anything with form builders so I’m not as clear on the use-case, but if you ever have specific questions let me know!
I also made an expresspress gitter room, I’ll try to pay attention to both of them

The real issue is that we tend to design WordPress forms to not work when the submission is external.

well, yeah… what you’re really doing if you have an external form is making a request to an endpoint. Long-term that sort of thing may end up happening largely through custom API endpoints your plugins/themes create.
auth becomes the trick, then

Right, some forms would need oauth or something built-in. But some forms, like contact forms or other types of "lead generation" forms can't require login.
