If you have any questions / ideas about Orc.Controls, feel free to post them here.

@tmshanthi
Is this Orc.control support asp.net c#. Can I create usercontrol in asp.net using orc datetime control?
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
No, only XAML

@fmonroe
Hi. So glad I found this place. I'm learning Catel & Orc & all that, tough learning curve, I'm no quitter. I have an issue with the orc:FilterBoxControl: it simply does not show, neither in design mode nor in debug mode. I prepared a pdf with screen shots and explanations. Can I forward this document somehow ? It's a very short read. This is likely a newbie problem. I would appreciate all the help. Thanks.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Hi @fmongeau You can create issues with attachments in GitHub. But probably it's the styles not being included.

For follow-up, see WildGums/Orc.Controls#22

I downloaded this and ran the Example code; the FilterBox in the sample code does not work. It throws "System.Windows.Data Error: 40 : BindingExpression path error: 'PropertyName' property not found on 'object' ''FilterBoxViewModel' (HashCode=2018156051)'. BindingExpression:Path=PropertyName; DataItem='FilterBoxViewModel' (HashCode=2018156051); target element is 'AutoCompletion' (HashCode=46586415); target property is 'PropertyName' (type 'String')". Help please.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Is it the example? They are probably useless binding errors (the binding will work)
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
No the app/example does not behave as shown on the web page: when I type 'd' it does not show a list of entries with 'd' as shown on the FirlterBox screen shots at https://github.com/WildGums/Orc.Controls.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Thanks, we will look into this.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Build - 1.6.0-unstable.47 should be up in about 5-10 minutes, could you please try that one?
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
yeas - thanks.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
If you find any other issues, feel free to report them, we are happy to fix them :)
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
That's very reassuring. I don't want to be a trouble. I like Catel and the associated frameworks for LOB apps.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
If you report an issue, it's a potential issue for us, so we like to fix those. So you are never a trouble.
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
OK. This is much better. But I think this is an issue: <orc:FilterBoxControl ... PropertyName="Value" FilterSource="{Binding ListOfPersons}" Text="{Binding FilterText}" /> the name of the property for the FilterSource seems to be hard-coded to FilterSource. The code ignores my ListOfPersons list and binds instead to a FilterSource list (this may be a newbie issue).
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
Opened Issue #23.
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
#23 is fixed and tested.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Nice, thanks for letting us know.

@fmonroe
Looking at the FilterBox control example. How do I retrieve the key the user selected? For example, there can be identical entries in the value field with different key. Thanks.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
not sure,@michu_cc, do we bind to objects or strings?
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
I would appreciate help on this. I need to query the database on every keystroke and I want the matching to be case insensitive. I see a SuggestionListService - should I implement this in my code? How?
Michał Piszczek
@michu
This control is using Catel AutoCompletion behavior, see here: https://github.com/Catel/Catel/blob/develop/src/Catel.MVVM/Catel.MVVM.Shared/Windows/Interactivity/Behaviors/AutoCompletion.cs. This behavior is using AutoCompletion service which is located in Catel, see here: https://github.com/Catel/Catel/blob/develop/src/Catel.MVVM/Catel.MVVM.Shared/Services/AutoCompletionService.cs. I believe that you can use Catel's service or just implement your own and replace in ServiceLocator. SuggestionListService is used by DatePicker and DateTimePicker (strange that it sits in FilterBox directory tree - should be fixed IMHO).
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@michu , can you create a ticket so we don't forget to fix it?
Frank Monroe
@fmonroe
I believe that you can use Catel's service or just implement your own and replace in ServiceLocator. Can you give me some pointers? For example I/we could improve the example provided "FilterBox" so that it uses a non-default AutoCompletion Service (that kind of example would be more helpful to newcomers to the orc controls that the simple example provided now - I mean this positively). Is there somewhere else I could look for examples? Thanks.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@alexfdezsauco can you improve the example with a simple custom auto complete service? So create an additional group box with the custom auto completion service.
Igr Alexánder Fernández Saúco
@alexfdezsauco
@GeertvanHorrik I will
Michał Piszczek
@michu
@fmongeau The default AutoCompletion service is good for most cases, all I wanted to say is that it should be possible to replace good default implementation with specialized one. That's why I paste you source files which should be interesting for you.
Igr Alexánder Fernández Saúco
@alexfdezsauco
@fmongeau Take a look into this branch https://github.com/WildGums/Orc.Controls/tree/feature/CustomAutoCompletionService with the solution
venom_aa
@venomAA
Anyway i can change the text of the buttons on the datetimepicker of orchestra?
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@venomAA Good question. All resources are retrieved via the LanguageService (in Catel). You can implement (override) your own and return any value you'd like
venom_aa
@venomAA
thanks @GeertvanHorrik. will do.

Hello, everybody! I got problem with FilterBox control: control has no display. At all.
In brand new Catel project getting Orc.Controls package via NuGet, and copy-paste "How to Use" from http://opensource.wildgums.com/orc.controls/filterbox/.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Did you reference /Orc.Controls;component/themes/generic.xaml in your app?
(as resource dictionary)?
ArieSLV
@ArieSLV

<catel:Window x:Class="WPF.PRC.PBF.Views.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:catel="http://schemas.catelproject.com" xmlns:orc="http://www.wildgums.net.au/orc" ResizeMode="CanResize">

<Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot">
    <Grid.RowDefinitions>
        <RowDefinition Height="Auto" />
        <RowDefinition Height="Auto" />
    </Grid.RowDefinitions>

    <orc:FilterBox PropertyName="Value"
                   FilterSource="{Binding FilterSource}"
                   Text="{Binding FilterText}"/>

</Grid>

</catel:Window>

Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
can you show your app.xaml?
ArieSLV
@ArieSLV
<Application x:Class="WPF.PRC.PBF.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" StartupUri="/Views/MainWindow.xaml">
<Application.Resources />

</Application>
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
yeah, you'll need to merge the resource dictionaries there
<Application.Resources>
    <ResourceDictionary>
      <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries>
        <ResourceDictionary Source="/Orc.Controls;component/themes/generic.xaml" />
      </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries>
    </ResourceDictionary>
</Application.Resources>
ArieSLV
@ArieSLV
Thanks :) It works now

Hi
Hi Geert, Is there a demo or trial for the rest if the applications developed by WildGums?
Like RNtt
Rantt, etc, which are not open-source
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@georgezac , definitely. You should contact the company via http://www.wildgums.com/contact or http://sesolutions.net.au/contact. They will definitely be able to provide you with a trial version
