If you have any questions / ideas about Orc.FilterBuilder, feel free to post them here.

Hello, I solved the issue with the property name disappearing in filter editor.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@dmitry-shechtman Very nice, we would love to see a PR for that :)

@dmitry-shechtman
@GeertvanHorrik I found the job on Upwork but didn't yet hear back from the employer. I'll do the PR as soon as I get paid.
Dmitry Shechtman
@dmitry-shechtman
As much as I like the terseness of the suggested PRs (provided they solve the issue), I believe my fix is superior. I elected to imlement a Clone() call hierarchy in lieu of the serialization kludge

Hi Guys, I might be in the wrong place but I wanted to get some help on this control. I think it is awesome and very useful. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work as planned. Is it possible to have the filterbuilder display without the window and simply have it say above my datagrid control? I also cannot find the EditFilterView as it only shows EditFilterWindow? @GeertvanHorrik
maciz84
@maciz84
Something like this alt but not using the window
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Hi @maciz84 , this is currently not possible but should be super easy to achieve. Interested in doing a PR on this?
maciz84
@maciz84
Hi @GeertvanHorrik , I am really a novice at WPF and have only been doing this for 2 months now so I probably wouldn't be of any use.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
np, I understand. If you can create a ticket on GitHub, then we'll look into it as soon as we have time.

@maciz84
ok will do and thanks again Geert. Great work by the way...it is a really fantastic control

@durato

Hello, I've been trying to get this working for a while, without success. I downloaded and built the dev repo, ran Example and the ribbon-based solution is working well.
But when I tried to include it as the readme/tutorial said, I only got a Button with caption "Default". I saw that @maciz84 and @GeertvanHorrik been talking about the same use case I might need (however, my aim is to provide a standalone filter control for my WPF app).

Could you please:
1) provide a really basic example of this control opening in a window/above a dataGrid?
2) add clarification to readme, because for me it's quite obvious that instead of "Import namespace, add control and done" method, I must provide lots of code-behind to be able to use this otherwise fantastic control.

I tried with VS2013 and 2015 as well, through nuGet and also building the project locally and including the built dll. Also tried using "WPF with catel" template, no success either way.

Thanks in advance,
durato

@GeertvanHorrik
I'm sorry, but we don't have the resources to create more examples than we have right now. You could try to look into the LogViewer application which also uses most Orc.* components.
durato
@durato
thanks for the answer, I surely will take a look. If I succeed with all this, I think I can provide the example I was asking for
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@durato you don't need a lot of code-behind stuff. You should just pass in RawCollection and FilteredCollection and it should take care of the rest. Of course there is room for customization, but it should work "out-of-the-box"
durato
@durato
the key is "should". I followed the readme and It's just not working at all - as prev.sly described
however, because the provided example project works totally well, I have hope :)

@mn1510
Hi there, I am having initialising the project on .NET 4.7
having troubles*
The Example project doesnt seem to load
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
@mn1510 what are the issues?
then we can fix them
we are currently converting all Orc projects to the new .NET SDK project style, so Orc.FilterBuilder is one of the few left
mn1510
@mn1510
I figured the problem was that SDK was not installed in visual studio, so i had to reinstall and modify
It is all ok now - thanks

Hi, just wondering what I'm missing to get the FilterBuilderControl working in a WPF project. I've put the FilterBuilderControl into the XAML, and I get a control like this:
image.png
Should there be a "new" button there to make a new set of filters?
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Did you check the example?
so 1: you will need to reference the themes
2: you will need some button to service as a "new filter scheme" command, you can find that here
theescapers
@theescapers
Ah, I checked the example, but I assumed the themes were already in there (because CTE already looks nice...), sorry, I'll check that out in the morning.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
these are orchestra themes
you will need to include the theme per component
theescapers
@theescapers
OK, I think I get it, I'll try again tomorrow (it's 20:30 in Aus) and if I run into issue I'll ask again, thanks for the help.
Geert van Horrik
@GeertvanHorrik
Excellent! Enjoy the evening!
