@denizsokmen I think this should have the information you want: http://www.monogame.net/about/
I'm watching your progress on the UOP resources - thanks for taking that on!

Thanks, I am working on my fork
But I have never tried to merge two remotes before
Most probably I will extract a .diff
when it ends

Since you forked from my repository, merging is really simple - you just open a pull request.

nice
Is it safe to have FileManager.cs to be completely static?
Is there async IO, I didn't check but
Zane Wagner
@ZaneDubya
Aug 03 2015 13:34 UTC
There is not. Although that would be a nice addition... :)
For now, static file manager is ok.
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 13:35 UTC
because I have added codes from openuo
they were supposed to work async
I removed the lock parts
but yeah it would be a nice addition :D
BTW sphereserver is going open source
finally
most probably they will need contributors if they do, so they don't regret going open source
Callan Bryant
@naggie
Aug 03 2015 14:06 UTC
it wasn't open source? I always assumed it was lol
@denizsokmen are you a contributor/owner?
good news!
lots of UO activity recently. So glad to see it.

so how does sphere compare to runuo?
does it use a database? I've always been wary of flat files. (I assume they are serialised memory dumps for RunUO? In which case that's not so bad)
Jeff Boulanger
@jeffboulanger

Sphere server is worse :)
@naggie color is a bit overexposed
@denizsokmen monogamy
hahaha
@denizsokmen Monogame uses sharpdx under the hood

sphere uses mysql!
cool.
any idea when the delicious source will be released?
(I hope it's on github)

that must be new
its also C++ afaik
so a lot less support and community contribution because of that
also it doesnt play like UO
its default configuration feels very different

My god, why couldn't the UO developers stick to consistent graphic placement with their static tiles?
It makes fitting items in gumps hell.
Some of the items are offset to the right by huge amounts!
Zane Wagner
@ZaneDubya
Aug 03 2015 19:56 UTC
Whatever - I'm not going to fix the display now. Some items will just be invisible.

I wonder what the reason was, if perhaps there were things filling the space but they had to move or somehting
not playing like UO... Interesting. I'll have to try it.

From what little information there is about UO's early development, I hear that it was rushed and very much hacked together.
All the little inconsistencies in the artwork might be some artifact of that.
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 20:01 UTC
yet they didnt fix it for 18 years :D
too bad they cancelled UO2
Zane Wagner
@ZaneDubya
Aug 03 2015 20:08 UTC
Well, there's always SWG. Another project with plenty of its own problems, but in many ways a spiritual successor to UO.
Not to mention the same design lead, Raph Koster.
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 20:18 UTC
yeah
raph koster is the guy
i always thought it was richard garriott
but he was the secret hero :D

I agree! I love the focus on (1) skill based instead of class based advancement, (2) detailed crafting that actually matters, (3) a player run economy. Whether any of those goals really worked is open to interpretation (tank-mages, epic items, dungeon farming), but they're such a cool alternative to the eq/wow model.

Aug 03 2015 20:27 UTC
yeah UO2 would have been good but I don't think it could beat classic UO considering the awesome pixel art
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 21:09 UTC
but it needed an upgrade
to fit in the new gaming world
uo has amazing pixel art
but it needed to be upgraded at some time
there is nothing we can do about it
I honestly dislike wow and it's graphics
but it's the trend and people who get used to it like it very much
I think UO could still create it's own art style in 3D world
if the same artists still persisted at the time
and the original game designer of course
Callan Bryant
@naggie
Aug 03 2015 21:19 UTC
well UO is what it is, I don't think it would work with graphics any 'better' -- look at KR for instance
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 21:19 UTC
kr is an art design fail
Callan Bryant
@naggie
Aug 03 2015 21:20 UTC
in what way? I think the art was amazing but they alienated their own audience
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 21:20 UTC
it just feels wrong
Callan Bryant
@naggie
Aug 03 2015 21:20 UTC
which would be the problem with better graphics in UO
exactly
Deniz Sökmen
@denizsokmen
Aug 03 2015 21:20 UTC
uo2 was a pure 3d TPS style
in other words, wow

Hey guys! Can I show you something cool, but not fair?)
I just dig in your code and implement my own Unity3D client what right now just connect, chat and create awesome landscape based on tons of voxels
http://prntscr.com/80igjv voxel size and awesome combining methods: http://prntscr.com/80iftt

I don't know :)
I just have fun with that
Maybe just set point and forget for a while. Maybe it comes to new best of the best MMO :D
