Is it possible to send custom dbus-messages from watchapps? I.e., view phone state and control phone features directly from your watch. E.g. silent profile, send an sms, call a contact on speaker. The other way around would be nifty too: allow watchapps to register dbus services, so they can be controlled by phoneapps. I'd reckon it would need to be added to JSKit?

Using current sdk no, you need to have companion app for that, or - yes jskit customisation, but that goes beyond sdk

Which SDK? Pebble's? For native whatsapps it might be hard or impossible without hacking the SDK, but using Pebble.js it would be feasible, no?

yes, pebble's, what i mean is it doesn't make sense to create Jolla's specific api customisation
as for pebble.js - no idea, didn't have a chance or desire to look at it yet

I didn't play with it either - mostly due to the lack of developer connection - but it sure looks easy. The "watchtapps" actually run on the phone, as javascript. They merely use the watch as gui. https://developer.pebble.com/docs/pebblejs/

Yes, i mean i know what it is but the concept looks not interesting to me (prefer more independence from the phone) so i skip the details

a dbus interface could be made much like the geolocation, time and websocket interface in JSkit. No need to meddle with the sdk.

But it will be custom api
sailfish-only
so in a way it will be sdk (api) customisaion

I don't see a problem with that. Could be useful for Ubuntu too, I guess. These Jolla/Ubuntu-specific apps could be installed by .rpm, just like patchmanager patches.
ok ubuntu doesn't use rpm :)

jskit is cpp
so it means need to create pluggable dynload interface

no, but it's already there, and even though i don't consider it right i'm not such a purist to wipe it out :)
I.e. if you submit a patch with good rationale I'm sure it will be accepted, why not
