Nope, silence, neither to web form, nor to support mail, and on the support forum zero replies. So effectively pebble is dead

"The Time 2 and Pebble Core will be canceled and refunds will be issued to Kickstarter backers, one of the people said."

and i'm currently looking at sony old gears - mn2, sw2, band talk - something uC based rather than andorid. bcz i don't like the direction asteriod chosen - hybris and android platform again

yeah. pebble was pretty unique there. linux is a bit too heavy for a watch
damn monolithic kernel. what a poor idea :)

but it does open up a whole world of existing stable software
which, unless you have an army of developers, is the only feasible way to put an OS together in a reasonable amount of time

yes but untill there will major leap in energy storage technology or technological landslide leading to dramatic change in energy consumption - it's utopic using it on watches
pebble is effectively a smartband pretending to be an OS. and probably the only ever implementation of freertos using mpu %)
interestingly mn2 uses same MCU as alpine platform
just different input/output (touchscree/oled) but having comparable durability at the sametime (a week). It's RTOS does not use MPU so it cannot run apps, but firmware pretty much resembles basic functions of pebble
hence I've bought a piece on ebay - will try to see if i can pair it to jolla and reuse rockpool for communication with sony smart api
