Sorry - missed this. Are you still playing with that?
Tbh right now we're talking about wanting to jettison telepathy and not really having a plan for that, so I think libcommhistory's safe for quite a while :)

yup, trying to make message-push work (which is disabled in current obex implementation)

I hadn't seen the thread for a while either, did you get a PTS?

qmf is more solid work as to me comparing to libcomm, but so far it's only doing mail.
yes, I got one, still waiting for amazon prices to drop below 100euro to get another for a replacement.

I think chris adams is the one to talk to about that. He's generally in charge of that, especially the Qt side. He's also generally in favour of large changes like that, though we haven't had the resources to do that since long before I started. He's australian - all the Jolla core Qt guys are.

but they are reluctant. gold is 80 but gray and black are keeping high

they have a caldav/carddav community meeting fairly regularly, which is growing to include most pim middleware. a guy from the community called damien caliste recently implemented GPG signing in all that - so change is definitely possible. we're trying to alter things so it's easier for such things to happen.

qmf is ready for sms/mms as far as i can see, although i'm not sure whether it can be smoothly replace commhistory - it's still a bit different

did you say the appid are different from the PTS? My sendtext's never worked and i'd always assumed I was missing some pieces.

oh dav i was forced to disable, it was draining by battery within hours for some reason
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 10:23
well, he's the main dav guy.
but I think that meeting's starting to cover a lot more than just dav

I was commenting about that above - there was a bug in initialisation, after i connected to android which initted (actually just wiped clean) blobdb it started working on rockwork
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 10:25
hmm I think my calendar's stopped working now. so I should clean the blobdb?
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 10:27
so i've added blobdb wipe as well on unfaithfullness. the blob wipe was also a bit way too polite so ai've added option to force-wipe it clean
but yes if you wipe all blobdb ids corresponding app should be able to use it

from the filesystem?
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 10:28
that's where i needed another PTS to test new initialisation
no, on pebble

aha I see

i think i commited latest init version to my git
you can cherrypick it and try

i'll take a look thanks. I really need to do a new release with the latest translations and bluez5.

without any source of new hardware i doubt it makes any good :) which is the reason i'm just fixing it for myself now not being eager to mainline
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 10:34
sure i understand. still a lot of users out there though!
probably because there really isn't a suitable replacement yet
i've got a plan to integrate a proper smartwatch api into sailfish - these basic functions of notifications and calendar sync are common to all of the, plus other remote devices that might want to sync.
there's an asteroid os watch coming out soon, and people are asking if rockpool could be a base to support it
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 10:44
yes rockpool is now a good wearebles hub for a linux os. but without new dimension i cannot find sufficient self-motivation to continue development
for new hardware platforms of wearebles would make sense to split daemons as we've discussed it earlier, to bring out platformintegration from the core
sorry and from libpebble
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 10:47
yep. that's the important part
that platform interface is a good thing to take forward. it would be quite simple to adapt that to other watch platforms
but the bulk of the code in rockpool is the pebble handling, so it's still a lot of work
but at least fetching the data wouldn't have to be so hacky
so am I just missing the weather api key header to get that working?
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 10:50
yup, i was thinking to implement CTN profile for obex and the most suitable daemon for that to me is rockpool :)
yes, whech could be entered via gui
for WU
for TWC needs dbus call or config edit
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 10:51
ah it doesn't need an extra header? cool
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 10:52
yes the header story was related to voice recognition (dicattion) service
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 10:52
ah yes. i forgot the watch was even meant to do that :)
i do think they over-featured those later watches a bit...
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 10:53
went ahead of time :)
and the JSkit in pebble i believe was a killer
it's just too much for such a tiny battery
but to me PTS is a masterpiece, modern smartwatches are still hardly competing with it. they add sim, gps, wifi, younameit, but still cannot untether from phone, which makes all of that redundant.
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 11:18
All they do is shorten the battery life. The point was never to replace the phone, just create a remote for it.
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 11:20
perhaps the new type of battery which will be forced to be invented by electromobility will make some day concept of asteroidos viable. by now it's utopia
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 11:23
they claim four days on the kickstarter. with a sim and its own wifi
ruff
@rufferson
Sep 10 2017 11:26
for that french one?
Andrew Branson
@abranson
Sep 10 2017 11:51
yeah
ruff

I cannot find kickstarter campaign for it, do you have a link? I'd bake one :)
