John Niezen
@johnniezen
try adapt_authoring\temp or adapt_authoring\temp\"long number hash"\ adapt_framework
Lucas Sencabaugh
@lsencabaugh
Awesome it's there. Thanks
Should I be scared the root folder is named temp? haha..
John Niezen
@johnniezen
they had me also in the beginning :smile:
tomgreenfield
@tomgreenfield
the safer way would be to create a new course in the authoring tool and export it to grab the theme from the source files
Lucas Sencabaugh
@lsencabaugh
Once I get the theme and theoretically make my changes, how do I include it in the authoring tool? Do I just overwrite that temp folder?
It says to update bower.json, but all I see is grunt and package.json
tomgreenfield
@tomgreenfield
i'd follow the instructions on the page @johnniezen shared and upload it as a plugin zip
Lucas Sencabaugh
@lsencabaugh
Awesome thanks
tomgreenfield
@tomgreenfield
looks like a bug in the authoring tool @cksachdev; it shouldn't be an issue with the release of the server rewrite because there we defer to the grunt task in the framework to check for empty children etc.
Chetan Sachdev
@cksachdev
Thanks for checking @tomgreenfield as a workaround I added a hidden page with blank component. Should I report this issue in Adapt Authoring repo?
tomgreenfield
@tomgreenfield
that's quite alright, and no need to worry about writing an issue, thanks

Q. I am using adapt-media component and I need to add a caption text below the video. I couldn't figure out a property for that, there is no attribution field in it. Kindly suggest.

Q. I am using Box Menu in my course where I have multi-level menus. When I am on last page of a Menu/Module, box menu shows up the sub menu items before going to the actual content, is there a way to skip that page/view?

Are assessment question weights split on the basis of counting each question, regardless of the number of articles or is question weighting based on whether or not there are questions in each article regardless of the number of questions in each article - e.g. 4 multiple choices questions in article 1 and 3 in article 2 = 0.5 question weighting for each article. Hope this makes sense!
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
questionWeight is the scoreWhenCorrect
it's like a maxScore
There's a goodish explanation of it there
and one of the older discussions adaptlearning/adapt_framework#1974
we've recently introduced a newish scoring mechanism where it is possible to have item specific scores on mcq and gmcq
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
question weight doesn't behave as the name suggests
Jack Schofield
@jschof1
ahhh right. Thank you, that's helpful. Therefore, in my example if inside a module there were 4 multiple choices questions in article 1 and 3 in article 2 = 0.14285714285 question weighting
Cheers, Oliver
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
an assessment only works with questions in one article
at the moment
you can however use question banking that splits your article questions into groups
Jack Schofield
@jschof1
Okay, so I should only weight questions on the basis of how many are in each article?
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
i don't understand why you're changing the question weight from 1 to anything else?
each question in an assessment usually gets 1 point (the default value of question weight) if it's correct
that way we can sum all question weights and all correct question weights and get a percentage correctness
or you'd have say 5 questions and 5 points if you get them all right
1 point (question weight) per question

My queries above possibly got missed because of timezone difference, @oliverfoster @tomgreenfield

morning @cksachdev! not sure why i'm tagged...i'll generally butt in if i know the immediate answer

one point is that these feel like questions unreleated to the authoring tool? may well get a better response in the framework chat

Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
@cksachdev You need to make a pull request / issue to add attribution to media
Chetan Sachdev
@cksachdev
Thanks @tomgreenfield I will move these queries to adapt_framework channel.
@oliverfoster sure, will do so.

Is it possible to download an Adept course and run it as HTML in Chrome. I don't care that the tracking is not working.... Tried to open the Index.html but just get the loading circles... If it's possible could you describe the steps that I need to take to make it work?
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
No. Chrome won't let JavaScript load files from file:/// because otherwise it could read your entire hard drive.
You need to access the course via a webserver so that it is served via the http protocol.
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
Oliver Foster
@oliverfoster
Apparently Firefox used to allow you to. I don't know if it still does.
MartinJuhler
@MartinJuhler
@oliverfoster Thanks for the answer Oliver :)

@MartinJuhler @oliverfoster Like Chrome it does not anymore, neither does Opera, we use Webserver for Chrome if we are on route and want to show the courses. Works like a charm and is on your "local pc"

@5am_gitlab
I used to achieve this in Firefox by accessing about:config and setting security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy to false.
