It has a "prebuilt" binary which doesn't get prebuilt on time

@moloko Yes, tried several times and still no go. I'll put a ticket in. Thanks!

@moloko
cool, when you do please specify what os you're on and what version of node you have installed
just to check - are you using v2.1.0 of the adapt-cli?
run adapt --version to check
marissalt
@marissalt
Yes v2.1.0

Noob question here... If I have an assessment that is all Sliders with values between 0-5 and I wanted to get all of the answers and average them out to give an overall rating based on those answers at the end, how would you recommend that I do such a thing? My first thought was to make modifications to the AssessmentResults component to give an option for averaging answers, but maybe there is a better way?
Matt Leathes
@moloko
assessment seems like overkill
unless you actually need assessment functionality
Matt Leathes
@moloko
but if you just have a collection of sliders and you want a component that averages their score you can do it with a lot less code than that

Thanks, @moloko! I'm basically fresh out of the online training course (technically still in one) so if you could give me a bit more of a nudge in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. In this component, could I access an existing object somewhere that has all of the answers from the sliders or would I need to loop through all of the sliders on the page to get the answers to pull into the component? Also, would you recommend starting with something like the core Text component as the base or start from scratch?
Matt Leathes
@moloko
I'd loop through all the sliders
the question would be whether you build an extension to handle that
or whether you could do it all from within your results component
I thinking that you could use trickle to hide it until all the sliders have been completed
and when it's shown, query all the slider models to get the data you need
either just by searching through all the sliders in the current page
or you could give it a list of component ids in the json
it would certainly be a very good learning exercise if you're just starting out
