Hi everybody, would anyone help me? I want this but I've found the installation so complicated. I was asked to install a Github, that I don't know what is for and three other softwares that I don't know what are for either. Please give me a hand because I really need a free and easy-to -use authoring tool that permits allows me to create contents and download and post it wherever I want. Thanks.
I just had to reinstall the adapt authoring framework (node install). I made a copy of my Adapt directory before. Once the (re)install is completed, I cannot see my course anymore. Can I copy directories from my backup onto the new directory or is there anything else I should do, or I am dead? (I have a lot of workc previously done and do not want to redo it). Thanks a million for your answer

@patrickattie1 Hi Patrick, if you did it like that, then you created a complete new instance( answering lots of questions I guess) of the AT, I managed to get my old stuff back by changing the "long" number in the config file to point to my "backup". But that was something like 2 years ago, and I do not remember exactly what I did to get it back. I am not fully up to speed with the MongoDB stuff behind it, but if I remember correct, in the install it makes a new one for it. If possible search the technical forum a bit, because I think it is also possible to point in the DB to the old stuff.
Was it not possible to do an update of the FW only?

Thank you John for taking the time to reply! At least you give me directions to look at :-)

Hi
Can we install Adapt authoring tool on windows 10
Matt Leathes
@moloko
yes
you can install it on anything that will run the prerequisites
https://www.gitbook.com/ - looks like it could a great for documentation (and much more). and it’s free for open source projects!

I have a vague memory of reviewing this a couple years back. Things develop so quickly; good to swing back and take another look. Back then a priority was allowing the community to create and edit pages. Does this allow that? My read is that it doesn’t. Looks like you have to be assigned permissions to do that. Perhaps that’s no longer a priority?? Or it can be managed in a loose manner?

Not entirely sure that's still a priority since the only edits we've had from the community have been people setting up blank pages that say little other than 'ola'...!

@moloko
but anyway it does say 'you can sync your docs with github' which suggests to me that anyone with a GH account would be able to make some form of edit
Hi All, Today, I got some system update and after that node server is not working. So I have uninstall the Nodejs and re-install nodejs. But after that I am not able to see my projects on Adapt Authoring tools. Can someone help me how I can see my old courses from back end. However, I had copied the whole folder in another path before uninstalling the nodejs.

@rakeshkumar749 could you please ask this question in the authoring tool room rather than the documentation room?
ah I see you have
please don't cross-post ;-)

any documentation on demoing a course on gh-pages?

No. Just add, commit and push the build folder to the repo and you're done. GitHub pages are just a very simple web server hosting the repo contents.
