Hi @ennru I just sent the signed CCLA for Aiven. Do you know if there is any special action we need to do when we have a new contributor?

@jlprat CCLA means you are contribute using work time?
Josep Prat
@jlprat
@hepin1989 yes, I manage the OSPO (Open Source Program Office) at Aiven, and one of the main goals is to contribute upstream to the projects we use (or depend on)
(I do contribute also when time permits :joy: )

@jlprat Cool~~

I did some looking and there doesn't appear to be a "akka-3" branch where changes that are breaking can be put? Does this even exist? For context I want to do some changes which are both source and binary compatibility breaking

@mdedetrich Are you using Scala 3 already?

It would be cool if there exists an paradox IDEA plugin.

Any input on akka/akka#27298 ?
I think it's ok to add an overloaded collect method to Sink Flow which accepts a factory of collector.
And as the Collector always return a new container maybe the factory is not needed ,but just a collector.

Hi everyone !
I'm a PhD student and I'm currently working on writing a transactional shared memory with causal consistency guarantees for actors.
I have a working prototype that I wish to test. Has any one ever tried to run Jepsen's test suite with Elle on Akka?
Thanks !

So I think I have found a memory leak in Alpakka's S3 client, reported an issue at akka/alpakka#2866. Still looking into it, will report any progress on the issue

I think Kalix needs some section about gradle not just maven

So I have just made an in progress PR for adding SinkWithContext to akka-streams, most of it is done however I came across a blocker which is I described here https://discuss.lightbend.com/t/concat-partition-doesnt-appear-to-work-when-combining-sinks/9822

PR opened for Alpakka which implements the new S3.getObject that has a far more idiomatic API and no longer contains a possible memory leak akka/alpakka#2874

hello, i'm trying to load the alpakka project from master branch in IntelliJ but sbt is giving me this error: "Unable to determine previous version"
do i need to install anything as a prerequisite to load the project?
Levi Ramsey
@leviramsey
When you say "from master branch in IntelliJ" what exactly do you mean? Are you cloning the repo (including pulling the history)?
previousStableVersion is determined from the tags in the git history
Daniel-Khodabakhsh
@Daniel-Khodabakhsh
yeah @leviramsey, that's right, did a git clone https://github.com/akka/alpakka.git which i believe already gets all the tag information
i just ran git tag and get the following result:

Daniel-Khodabakhsh
@Daniel-Khodabakhsh
specifically i did these steps:
  • from command line: git clone https://github.com/akka/alpakka.git
  • launch IntelliJ IDEA
  • from IntelliJ: File -> Open and selected the root alpakka folder
  • IntelliJ automatically runs the build.sbt (i tried both sbt shell and non-shell settings within IntelliJ)

here's what the error looks like when i set IntelliJ to use the sbt shell for project loads. same error:

Are the git CLI tools on the path? https://github.com/sbt/sbt-dynver requires that git be on the path. Does launching sbt from git bash work?
Daniel-Khodabakhsh
@Daniel-Khodabakhsh
yeah git is in the path, however sbt is not. I'm using the sbt-launcher IntelliJ plugin instead of a full-on sbt installation. this works all of the projects i've worked on so far but may be the issue here hummm...

So I just realized that the unsafeDataVia function which I added to akka-stream some time ago doesn’t work with Flow’s that don’t allow truncation (such as gzip compression). Just created an issue at akka/akka#31522 describing the problem
Matthew de Detrich
@mdedetrich
Created an Alpakka S3 PR which adds the S3.listBuckets API call akka/alpakka#2899
Matthew de Detrich
@mdedetrich
@ennru @johanandren Is making a release of Alpakka out of the question? I am not sure if there have been any breaking changes merged into master (the only thing I am aware of is akka/alpakka#2874 but that is just deprecating existing functions)
iirc there was also some suggested changes to make the HTTP pool configurable for things such as the S3 client which makes sense to merge infront of a 4.0.0 release but I don’t know what the status on that one is

I think next 2.7 will keep 2.12.x support right?
Patrik Nordwall

Yes, there will be support for Scala 2.12, 2.13 and 3.1 (and 3.2)
