@stijnherreman thank you for your input. I have a similar idea in mind, but I need a high number of actors, and I’d like them to be distributed across multiple instances in Service Fabric

Hey all got a question if anyone can help

I am quite a novice with Akka.Net I have used it but not lots. I now have a requirement at work to create a system where remote clients need to have a persistent connection to a server which I have control of. The problem is that the remote clients have to be the ones to initiate the connection as they will be within various customer networks and behind who knows what kind of firewalls and routing etc. The server does not have a direct address to connect to any client.

Before I jump into Akka.Net for this project I am wondering if it is possible and if so could you point me in the right direction of architecture? It seems to me that the sending and receiving actors need to have defined each others addresses?

@Unthred you may want to check out akka.net clusters

@OnurGumus thanks will start looking into that..... The big issue is that I cannot directly connect to the client from the server so I want to create an actor system that will allow me to do that. Will look at clusters thanks!

@Unthred if you don't have control of the networks the remote clients are on, maybe websockets (via SignalR and ASP.NET) would be the entry point into your actor system?

@anthonyhawes So this is adding on to part of the system we already have out there which uses a system like what you describe but it comes with a lot of issues. If I can get akka to do it for me then thats a lot of hard work I can avoid.....been looking into clustering and it seems it will do what I want. just knocking up a test app at the moment. Thanks for your help tho

usually right after the training - depends on how long it takes GoToWebinar to render it
