@Aaronontheweb
do you have a binding redirect or anything in App.config ?
Akshay
@akshay123

All binding redirects
None regarding Akka
@Aaronontheweb is there a sample / reference project for DistributedPubSub maybe I need to setup differently perhaps.
Aaron Stannard
@Aaronontheweb
@akshay123 I'd definitely make sure that it's installed correctly
because Akka.Cluster.Tools depends on it
so maybe try a Update-Package Akka.Cluster.Tools -reinstall in the package manager command prompt in VS
Bartosz Sypytkowski
@Horusiath
@akshay123 or maybe just install-package akka.cluster ;)
Arjen Smits
@Danthar
@akshay123 what are you using as a seed node ?
If your using lighthouse. you have to make sure the same akka packages are loaded up there as well. By default lighthouse does not include akka.cluster.tools
and you can use the role configuration for distributed pubsub to make sure that the seed node is not part of your pubsub infrastructure

@verysimplenick
hi all, akka.net can be runned under .net core?
Arjen Smits
@Danthar
@verysimplenick not yet. but SOON (tm)
We are working to get .net core support in the 1.5 release
Akshay
@akshay123
@Horusiath @Aaronontheweb Thanks reinstall-package worked.

yaaay. That's guys news
Good news...
Akshay
@akshay123
@Danthar Still need to setup the cluster correctly, though.
Arjen Smits
@Danthar
For anyone thats interested. We have a dedicated akkadotnet/dotnet-core gitter room.

Hello geeks
Is it possible to tell an actor to be reading the same message until a treshhold is reached?
HansVanderGucht
@HansVanderGucht
Are the arguments in the props also serialiased. Or can we pass complex data.
How could I query the state data of all actors => from webapi , to get all data in a list.
Aaron Stannard
@Aaronontheweb
@HansVanderGucht the arguments for Props also get serialized
so they need to be serializable
in order to get deployed
Aaron Stannard
@Aaronontheweb
@Tochemey hmmm
could you help me understand this better?
reading the same message type until a threshold is reached?
like the # of messages?
or some accumulated value from a property of those messages?
Akshay

Tried the simple cluster example. I m not sure what I m doing wrong; ran it on 3 different machines to make sure none of the anti-virus or any of those things are coming in the way.
same error on all 3 servers.
Aaron Stannard
@Aaronontheweb
looks like hostname = 0.0.0.0 error in configuration
change your configuration to
akka.remote.helios.tcp.public-hostname = localhost
akka.remote.helios.tcp.hostname = 0.0.0.0
that will decouple the logical listening address from the physical one
logical = localhost
physical = all addresses
Akka.Remote demands that all addressed messages match the logical address exactly
if the public-hostname address is not set
then physical = logical
Akshay
@akshay123
Thanks @Aaronontheweb the settings helped, I m able to run the sample. I m curious is there some place where I can lookup and learn a bit more about all the settings in HOCON, I saw some documentation on akka.io but wasn't able to find anything regarding something like "public-hostname".
thakursagar
@thakursagar
Hello everyone, I am new to Akka.Cluster world and I was trying to deploy this project on Azure Cloud Services after being able to successfully run it locally. I changed the public-hostname to my name.cloudapp.net in the configs but the worker roles keep recycling when i try to publish. Am I missing any basic thing for this?
Aaron Stannard
@Aaronontheweb
@akshay123 yeah we should just put a page up that links to all of the default HOCONs
they're all inside the Config folders of each main module as an embedded assembly
