    Hi guys, I noticed that akka.net does not have any security mechanisms implemented on message level (http://getakka.net/docs/remoting/security). Are there any plans on this topic? If I wanted to contribute somehow, who should I contact with proposals for implementation? Thanks.

    we will be implementing TLS soon

    one question about creating child actors with F# api. in the official documentation I found the following: "All of these functions may be used with either the actor system or the actor itself. In the first case the spawned actor will be placed under /user root guardian of the current actor system hierarchy. In the second option the spawned actor will become a child of the actor used as the actorFactory parameter of the spawning function."...... but this does not work! IActorRef does not impl IActorRefFactory
    Free.Actor.Run mailbox.Self -- this causes the compile error as it does not impl IActorRefFactory
    this is how I understand the documentation, maybe some additional sample could be putted there?
    Kamil Wojciechowski
    @aph5nt
    ok, I think that I got it
    i should use mailbox.Context
    but this should be putted into the docs

    @aph5nt this room isn't used very much - mind going into the akka.net room itself and posting this?
    I don't know much about the F# API myself, but yeah that should be in there

    @saduncem
    hi all.
    Vagif Abilov
    @object
    @Sha644 Do you need C# or F# example for constistent router?
    Luis Alexander Aldazabal Gil
    @berczeck
    @object IT would be
    @object it would be fine If you could give us some examples
    Vagif Abilov
    @object
    @berczeck Look at Task7 in either C# or F# part, it contains code using consistent hash routing.
    Luis Alexander Aldazabal Gil
    @berczeck
    Thanx @object :)

    @berczeck
    @object do you have an example about how to implement DDD with akka?

    Hello, I'm newbie in Akka and I got some questions.

    1.
    What is Akka?

    2.
    What benefit can I use Akka?

    3.
    What business value or technical value can Akka provide?

    Thank you!

    Bartosz Sypytkowski
    @Horusiath
    @jt4000 have you visited http://getakka.net/ ?
    tj4000
    @jt4000
    yes, but the message doesn't provide me with clear explaination. only technical explanation.
    Bartosz Sypytkowski
    @Horusiath
    @tj4000 in short, akka is set of libraries that can be used to build both concurrent and distributed applications, using the same common primitives, known as actors. Essentially actor is a unit of processing that can have an in-memory state attached to it, that allows to thread-safe processing of incoming requests. Thread safety is achieved by the fact, that by default actor processes messages synchronously, one by one. Thanks to that you don't need synchronization mechanisms such as mutextes or semaphores, which make concurrency scalling issues
    from other perspective, it helps in systems and problems when you need to scale your application under high load (so you cannot deal with the traffic just by adding more cores to your server), deal with traffic spikes or produce systems that must tolerate failures of particular components in isolation - so one one part of your application goes down, the rest of it must be able to operate.

    Hi, anybody having issues with snapshots on mongo db? I can save and retrieve events just fine. Snapshots get saved, but I get a weird error when retrieving from the snapshot offer
    Bartosz Sypytkowski
    @Horusiath
    @diegolinan can you set an issue on https://github.com/AkkaNetContrib/Akka.Persistence.MongoDB ? The more described it is the better
    Diego Liñan
    @diegolinan
    @Horusiath I already did and just closed it since @Aaronontheweb gave me an answer on the akka.net channel on how to partially solve it

    Hi guys, what is the best practice to use service discovery in Akka.Net? and how deal with sid nodes restarting ?
    Bartosz Sypytkowski
    @Horusiath
    @Vadimus____twitter you may want to take a look at https://github.com/Horusiath/Akka.Cluster.Discovery - also remember that this channel is no longer in use, https://gitter.im/akkadotnet/akka.net is the official one
    wildanr
    @wildanr
    Hello, why is "UntypedActor API is recommended for C# 7 users."? Can sombody help explain?
    Caio Proiete
    @caioproiete

    @wildanr C# 7.0 introduces pattern matching which we can use to match the messages the actor receives, instead of relying on other base actors such as the ReceiveActor.

    Watch the next couple of minutes of this video, starting from minute 26:38: https://youtu.be/ozelpjr9SXE?t=1598 for a some more details from @Aaronontheweb himself. It's a great talk BTW and I'd recommend watching the whole thing.

    Can I get Akka.NET Bootcamp - Unit 3: Advanced Akka.NET support here? It seems there is an issue as every time I try to run the stock solution (unit 3/ DoThis/GithubActors.sln) and I put in my GitHub Access Token I get an "Authentication failed. Please try again." error message.
