@mkasprzyk który Ralph? 2 czy 3(NG)?
Maciek Kasprzyk
@mkasprzyk
NG
W sumie 2 też mnie ciekawi
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
i na czym utknąłeś?
Maciek Kasprzyk
@mkasprzyk
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
to musiałbyś podesłać konkretne błędy
Maciek Kasprzyk
@mkasprzyk
Ok, w pojutrze siądę jeszcze raz do tematu i odezwę się z konkretnymi rzeczami :-) Dzięki @mkurek

I have a couple project related questions. If there is a better source for the answers please point me to it. I've been googling and not really finding solid answers for these questions.
Currently it looks like the documentation for v2 is much more complete than for v3 (ng). I also see that ng is listed as beta. For a new install is it recommended to stick with v2 or go ahead and use v3?
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
@brianchoate differences: v2 requires docker, v3 has both: docker and deb native packaging
@brianchoate v2 has more documentation, but v3 is simpler to use. v2 has scan functionality, v3 doesn't have (yet). v3 is currently used in production by us, so it's going to be released as stable, just after documentation land.
so, well, it really depends on your case. probably the best is to try both and decide by yourself.

@fossilet
@vi4m thanks for the differences. Does v3 has cost-related functions as v2?
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
v3 doesn't have scrooge integration yet
PY
@fossilet
@vi4m are you planning to integrate scrooge to v3? Cost calculation is attractive😄.

@vi4m Thanks for the reply, very helpful.

@fossilet yes, we're working on bringing pricing to the new ralph as well, allegro/ralph_pricing#458

How do I add virtual servers? Do I add them as 'Hardware' and set its parent accordingly? Or is the VirtualServer model in ng still waiting for concrete implementation?
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
@fossilet yes - we haven't finished virtual server model yet - it'll be done in the next month or 2, as we'll move forward with moving Ralph 2.0 Core part functionality to Ralph NG.

hi there, I am new to Ralph. It seems to be an useful tool to manage my data centre. Since i am totally new to ralph, and I hope for a deployment in April. Should i start testing Ralph 2.x or 3.0?
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
@wayne1g it depends on what kind of features you need

My Ralph presentation on Fosdem2016 has been accepted, https://fosdem.org/2016/schedule/event/ralph_data_center_asset_management/
Does anybody else plan to join the conference? ;-)

hi vi4m, thanks for the reply. Looks like ralph 2 has more features for the time being. Just wonder if there is a handy list of both 2.x and 3 for me to compare. Looking at the very high level features. My starting requirements include "auto-discover existing hardware" and "keep track of assets purchases and their life cycle". Then it is the change management tool "integrate with change management process using JIRA integration".
on another need - I have a lot of networking devices and mainly Juniper routers/switches/firewalls. Are these something that we can track and auto-discover as well in Ralph?
