@vi4m I didn't think about this solution but, yes it would even be better

hi, 1/ I'd like to find how to remove BackOffice item from menu (based on Groups lists rights/settings). 2/ I can add rack beyond DC grid. Is it a bug?
bjoernschneider
@bjoernschneider
hi guys. is it possible to put 2 devices in the same slot in a rack ? I have got two mac pros and i want to visualize both on their own. can somebody help me ? i cannot find this function :)
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
yes, but: 1) it's model has to have 'has_parent' field to true and 2) you have to fill slot number for them
bjoernschneider
@bjoernschneider
@mkurek thank you. i configured the model for the mac pro. set the 'has_parent' field to true and configured two datacenter assets. 1) macpro01 and 2) macpro02 - macpro01 is the parent of macpro02. but this does not work ....
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
there should be another parent of both of them in my opinion (which will act as "blade server" or sth similar for them)
bjoernschneider
@bjoernschneider
@mkurek thank you ! this works ... but i have another question: is it possible to change the required fields? i do not want the filed "serial number" to be required :)
Ham5ter
@Ham5ter
Hi, is it ok to ask questions about available Features in here?
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
@Ham5ter sure
Ham5ter
@Ham5ter

I would like to know, if it is possible to Document Network-connections between Server, Switch and other Hardware components?

I could not find that Feature in the online Demo.

Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
@bjoernschneider unfortunately this field is obligatory right now - we could change it to optional (through settings), but I can't promise any dates. If you're familiar with python you could try to change it and contribute to Ralph. Potential place in code to change is here: https://github.com/allegro/ralph/blob/ng/src/ralph/assets/models/assets.py#L486
@Ham5ter not now, but we have this feature in our roadmap
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
@Ham5ter we use description fields for racks and assets as a workaround right now
Ham5ter
@Ham5ter
Thank you for the Information, i will take a look at the Code, maybe i am able to help out :)

@vi4m
cool :)

@bjoernschneider
@mkurek thank you for help ! maybe i will try to change the code - but i am not familar with python ;)

why is it that the hostname field for backoffice assets is greyed out?
defrancesco
@defrancesco
Hi All, I tried to lunch the command "ralph cmdb_integration --cmdb_zabbix" ralph import only the hosts and then get this error django.db.utils.IntegrityError: (1048, "Column 'host' cannot be null")
How can solve this issue?
defrancesco
@defrancesco
Hi I installed the ralph 3 version, how I can integrate it with zabbix?
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
hi @defrancesco - ralph cmdb_integration was ralph2 command. There is no such thing in Ralph3. What information do you want to share between zabbix and ralph?
defrancesco
@defrancesco
I am using ralph 2 can you help me?

@angelionix99
Hi All
How to stop Ralph 3 service ?
I just want to restart the server.
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
you can just reboot the server with shutdown, it will stop it automatically
AngelIX
@angelionix99
thanks

Is Node actually used in Ralph-NG at all? Seemed odd that I'm dealing with Grunt + make to be able to try and setup a python application.
I was going to try doing the install via the .deb file until it wanted to install GDB, Bison, Flex, rsync, and both python 2 & python 3, and openssh-server. https://paste.fedoraproject.org/495648/48069473/raw/
but after that, it's back to rolling it by hand.
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
i think we can reduce some of the dependencies
nodejs is used just for generating static files
not serving anything, nor running
redbeard
@brianredbeard
ok, that's good to hear.
also, does Ralph-NG only use python3?
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
yes, it's python 3 based
i will paste you something we use for building packages
redbeard
@brianredbeard
perfect. thanks @vi4m
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
and this is the debian files: https://github.com/allegro/ralph/tree/ng/debian
redbeard
@brianredbeard
i was starting out with the .deb just because it was the "preferred" way of installing ralph. Now that i can see what dark witchery is occurring under the hood I can try and bend it to my whimsy :smile:

@vi4m for back office assets, I'm unable to edit components and software? seems like they're filled in automatically whenever I add a new asset with default values. I must be missing something, though I've gone through much of the documentation...
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
actually, you're not missing anything :D
models are there, but we didn't implement it yet, sorry for that surprise
didn't implement the view, though it's quite easy to do (in fevew lines of code)
i think we should do it eventually
o_O
swb
@spencewb16_twitter
Oh I see. What file do I need to edit to add the view? or do i need to add a new view file entirely?
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
just a sec
swb
@spencewb16_twitter
in views file in /opt/ralph/ralph-core/lib/python3.4/site-packages/ralph/back_office
i see the default values :smile: just not sure how to go about editing it so that it reroutes properly back to components section
