I would like to document and track how the ports in DC switches are used, and where they are connnected to. Is that possible with ralph?
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
@matti125 not yet, but we have this feature in our roadmap
✪ vi4m Marcin Kliks
@vi4m
well ideally, we'd like to community contribution here
to gather some ideas how to implement it right
do you have some ideas @matti125 ?
matti125
@matti125
Basically, we would need to document which ports are used and which are free. And for those that are used, we need to document the "other" end, i.e where they are connected to. So the basic requirement is pure physical connectivity. The interface type (e.g. QSFP+) and transceiver type (e.g. 40GBASE-SR4) could be listed as well

Good day! I tried add email notification and have some trouble...
Use local SMTP based on Postfix service
Add
from django.core.mail import EmailMessage
and
msg = EmailMessage('Test subj', 'Test text', 'Ralph notify ralph@local', ['email@company.name'])
msg.send()

and i receive error - please run connect() first... however, this code in new django project from shell successfully sending email :(

I installed Ralph 3 via deb package following instructions here: https://ralph-ng.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installation/installation/

Did you type:

1. Type ralph migrate to create tables in your database.
2. Type ralph sitetree_resync_apps to reload menu.
3. Type ralph createsuperuser to add new user.

?

Marco Lanzotti
@rastakozza
yes
tables were created and i can log in
I can try to re-run ralph sitetree_resync_apps
wow, it works!
probably something went wrong in first run
thank you!

Hey guys, I'm looking into Ralph3 as a DCIM, but i'm running into two issues, perhaps someone here is familiar with them
The first one is 'AttributeError at /data_center/rack/process_import/' when i'm trying to import racks for csv or excel
Django is complaining about not being able to set ManyToManyField

Any idea what the timeline is for the "allow modeling of connections between hosts and network gear" feature is now? I saw mention of it being in October, but if it's there in 3.0.0-snapshot-20170120-7552 (latest deb), I can't seem to find it or figure out how it works.
Marco Lanzotti
@rastakozza
is there some rc script or systemd config to run ralph on startup?
Pete
@kasim1r
+1 for @rastakozza 's request :)
Marco Lanzotti
@rastakozza
tried something like this
[Unit]
Description=Ralph 3
After=network.target

[Service]
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/ralph
ExecStart=/opt/ralph/ralph-core/bin/ralph runserver $LISTEN
Restart=on-failure

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Alias=ralph.service
for systemd
it works
Mateusz Kurek
@mkurek
@rastakozza cool! could you make PR with this? to contrib dir and/or to DEB package? :)
