@basarat same issue just pull down from npm alm@0.0.47
node 4.2.2
Cannot find module './docs/docs’
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
Looking into it :rose:
Got it. Its because we .npmignore anything that matches docs https://github.com/alm-tools/alm/blob/fe91a9c615dd820a82ab5cd6ba81d79a949d2ef0/.npmignore#L4

No dramas, wasn't sure if it was an issue or not :smile:
Working lovely!

Hi @basarat i have a question! Is the IDE automatically compile the ts file to JS? I couldn't see any option to enable/disable that. I'm asking also because I'm doing a NativeScript app and the CLI of the tool already do that and I want to disable the option on ALM if I can
Alexis Villegas Torres
@Alexisvt
I found the option myself :-P it was at "compileOnSave" here at this page https://basarat.gitbooks.io/alm/content/config/tsconfig.html ;-)
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
Yup :rose:

@Alexisvt
Hi basarat! I have a silly question. Do ALM tools understand typings file (d.ts) ? I try to search about it in the online book but I didn't find it! 😟
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
Yes.
Definitely
@Alexisvt it would be useless if it didnt :) :rose:

@basarat I only see one thing missing in alm to compete with vscode... DEBUG (my best friend) What are your thoughts - you would probably be way faster than me building it, but I feel like doing it. :)

@Buildstarted
i've checked the docs and i can't find anyway to hide the generated files from the tree view. is it not possible?
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat

@Buildstarted They should show quite small once you have a project active:

blob
@mfbilling_twitter sorry, somehow gitter didn't notify me till just right now. Yeah debugging is missing. I am actually waiting for Monaco to release as a package and increase my code sharing with VSCode. Then would pull in the debugger as well :rose:
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
they are tiny but with a lot of files it's a bunch of unneeded noise to me - i'll just write a userscript to remove them for now :)
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
speaking of active projects. i'm getting exceptions on the server that there is no active project but i can't find any docs on it other than this one page https://basarat.gitbooks.io/alm/content/contributing/tsconfig.html which doesn't tell me much
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat

@Buildstarted if you don't want them to be generated you can set compileOnSave to false : https://basarat.gitbooks.io/alm/content/config/tsconfig.html#compileonsave

Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
no i want that feature :)
just wanted to hide them from the treeview

Most likely fine. If you can tell paste the log I'll look at it more. Its because a TypeScript query is being sent for a file that isn't in the active project. We handle this gracefully but just log it out as we can avoid the extra server request directly from the client. :rose:

@Buildstarted
guess my machine is too slow
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
@Buildstarted did you run build by any chance?
@Buildstarted I can see that build is not the reason (its not in the list). Perhaps you are on an old version? npm install alm-g to get latest
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
i just installed it last night - nah it turned out something happened and it included all the node typings d.ts files and it generated 8000+ errors... (i have no clue what i'm doing with node, this is all new to me)
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
hah, just now i got a notice of a new alm version :)
Basarat Ali Syed

@mfbilling_twitter
@basarat great choice with Monaco - I like your bold fork strategy goal - never at bad idea to be ambitious, you can pull it off :)
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
finally got the basic project set up iwth alm. nodejs is really confusing with all the modules and what not
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat

Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
i'm wondering if some of the features i'd like to see in alm will be resolved with the move to monaco...
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
and by "see" i mean contribute :)
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
@Buildstarted monaco is not without its flaws. A small sample : https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/created_by/basarat :rose:
@Buildstarted I've been working hard here : https://github.com/basarat/monaco
@Buildstarted The monaco API is still in flux. Once its more stable / mature I'd love to see contributions :rose:
Ben Dornis
@Buildstarted
most of what i'd like to contribute right now are keyboard shortcuts - i'm thinking if it's a separate "module" it'll probably work for monaco and the codemirror editors - just didn't want to duplicate the work if the shortcuts exist in monaco already :)
Basarat Ali Syed
@basarat
codemirror had a nice keymap => command path. Meant it could easily be done externally. Monaco is harder nut to crack. In fact they didn't even export the ability to register actions (what codemirror calls commands) by default : see Microsoft/vscode#7382
@Buildstarted I had to do all the work in https://github.com/basarat/monaco e.g. https://github.com/basarat/monaco/blob/49bd935a0d2dae72b5c6e8447791148b95a1b771/extensions/preBuild.ts#L224-L237 since I couln't figure out a better way :rose:
i.e monaco is not very friendly to user customization ... understandable considering I seem to be the first external user :rose:

@Ciantic
testing first time alm tools, looks great. Intriguied with the fact I could serve this editor from my server directly
