@adarshsiva
how to solve 2 commits ahead issue??
Abhijit Ramesh
@abhijitramesh
@adarshsiva I guess you have gone wrong while mergeing some commits
try reseting you head first
Ajay Prabhakar
@Chromicle
hello @adarshsiva you can solve by fetch the upstream after pull them, if any merge conflicts solve them
ADARSH S
@adarshsiva
thanks @Chromicle @abhijitramesh

@adarshsiva
Are these supposed to be the same: "List Of Registered Poojas: people who paid only" and "List of all registrations who paid only". Or should i consider it as two different strings
Ajay Prabhakar
@Chromicle
they both are same consider them as one
This is the problem if we are using hardcoded strings instead of resources
ADARSH S
@adarshsiva
okay thanks @Chromicle
"People Who Registered For Pooja" and "All Registered Poojas:" are they the same??
Ajay Prabhakar
@Chromicle
yeah
ADARSH S
@adarshsiva
"create/insert" and " insert" ????
Ajay Prabhakar
@Chromicle
yeah, better to be insert only
ADARSH S
@adarshsiva
String id,name,poojaTyp,overall,money,paidCheck = getString(R.string.NOT_PAID); this was the previous line. so if i just modify it as String id,name,poojaTyp,overall,money,paidCheck; and then inside onCreate() , i'll put something like paidCheck = getString(R.string.NOT_PAID); would that solve the issue ??

Hello Everybody! My name is Ashwin Shenoy. I am doing second year btech programmeee in Amrita Univercity, Kolam. I am planning to learning Java as part of the college subject, and taught that I would learn Andorid to understood java. But most importantly, I am a web developer, know nothing about java, but I heard java is like javascript. Now I want to take it a challenge to learn to make apps, and contribute to the real project. Kindly, someone please guide. I am comfortable with open source contributions. I just need someone who can guide me throughly. Thanks

@/all You all can help by contributing to the issues opened. If you are interested in contributing further, here are the future objectives that we have planned:
1) Introducing retrofit in the app.
2) Changing the backend to better serve our purposes(using google spreadsheets itself for now)
3) Enhance the UI
4) Implement a login portion

@aswinshenoy
Thanks @yashk2000. I setted up temple app in the studio, had issue with java but fixed it. I am an very good UI/UX designer myself and like to code the task 3) Enhance the UI. Hoping that I could also learn java and work on other android stuff too fast.
Today was a dream day for me, I think the current design of the app is not good, so i wished to update it. I coded new leyout changes and added new design, and have submitted pull request. But i saw some test called travis has failed, can someone teach me travis so that it can show passed.
Yash Khare
@yashk2000
@aswinshenoy you say you are comfortable with open source contributions, but you haven't heard of travis? That's really surprising.
When you send a pr, we need to ensure that you did not break the app in any way. The most obvious way to do it will be for the maintainer to download a zip of the app from your repo and run it.
But this will make a lot of work for the maintainer. So we have automated testing which is done using travis. If you broke something in the app, travis will fail and tell the cause for the error.
You can learn more about travis here : https://docs.travis-ci.com/user/tutorial/
Ashwin Shenoy
@aswinshenoy
I have understood what is travis, but i taught it is a error from apps part and it works on my pc - intel core i7, 16gb ram, nvidia mx150 2gb, and ubuntu 19.04 disco dingo.
Is there a software which with can open and test the zip file and see what is broken and fix it before it goes to the travis to fail.
Yash Khare
@yashk2000
@aswinshenoy no need to give out the details of your pc. No matter what hardware/software you're using, it won't affect the travis build
you can set up travis on your own fork of repo. Then you'll know that it is failing or passing before you finally make a pr.

Now there are two branches in the project.

  1. master
  2. development

From now on who ever wants to send a PR you need to send it to the development branch and not the master branch.
If anyone sends to master branch it will be closed.

@/all,
We need a particular document for all the styling (like the variables naming convention, comment format, etc,...)
